Go ahead, rip my team

Postby Syd12356 » Tue Apr 17, 2018 7:31 pm

Just did my first startup in quite awhile. For what it's worth, my two teams in my sig didn't have great startups either, but they've ended up being just fine. Anyways, here it is. Pretty scarce on RBs and lots of risk in my WRs. (PPR, 6 point per passing TD, and TE premium)

QB- Wilson, Dalton
RB- Miller, Bernard, Prosise, Davis, Grant, Murray, Sprole, Jo. Williams
WR- Beckham, ARob, Gordon, Woods, Golladay, Coleman, Jackson, Ross, Humphries, Zylstra
TE- Gronkowski, Kittle, Gathers

1.07, 2.01, 2.08, 3.10, 4.03, 5.03
Team 1: 12 Team PPR 30 Man Rosters 1 QB, 2-4 RB, 3-5 WR, 1-3 TE

QB- Newton, Dalton, Keenum, L. Jackson
RB- Da. Johnson, Bell, S. Michel, Du. Johnson, G. Bernard, J. Wilkins, L. Blount, C. Grant, B. Scott
WR- D.Hopkins, Hill, Thielen, E. Sanders, Fitzgerald, D. Baldwin, M. Mitchell, Humphries, R. Anderson, T. Taylor, R. Mathews, Meredith
TE- Gronk, K.Rudolph, Gathers, Seals-Jones
2019 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3x4ths

Team 2: 14 Team PPR 25 Man Rosters (30 in offseason) (4 TS) 1 QB, 2-3 RB, 2-3 WR, 1-2 TE, Team Defense, Kicker

QB- M. Ryan, Flacco
RB- Guice, Michel, Cohen, Collins, G. Bernard, L. Blount, C. Grant
WR- Landry, Diggs, Thielen, M. Bryant, Crowder, Edelman, K. Cole, Mitchell, D. Robinson, C. Rogers, Butler, Zylstra, D. Cantrell, T. Quinn
TE- Engram, Cook, Gathers, Akins
DEF-
TS- L. Jackson, A. Miller, Chark, J. Samuels
2019 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

If you can somehow get another decent RB, I think you'll be in good shape.

Phenomenal logo but you drafted Arob, Gronk and JG way too high. I wouldve went Melvin, Diggs and Sammy at those spots but hindsight is always 20/20....

Your team is not terrible by any ways. With the way the draft went, it looks like you are playing with some savvy players. I am most worries about Gronk and JG though. Gronk will be tough to trade (unless you were planning to hold him till retirement) and JG is just a huge question mark now that Cleveland has so many new weapons.

I hear you. Diggs and Watkins are definitely tempting, but I am not a fan of Gordon. I love Gronk so I have no problem riding him until retirement. I just hope that I can compete before he does.

I'm hoping I can grab somebody in the rookie draft.

This kind of nails it on the head. Just too many talented players available at these spots without all the question marks. Gronk might retire sooner than later, JG could be out of the league at any moment and is likely stuck with a low volume or rookie QB for the near future at 27. ARob has 1 great year with decidedly average play for the rest of his career and is in a new system with unknown at QB. There is a lot of upside here for your WR group and Gronk is spectacular in a TE premium league but the core of your team might be out of the league or be marginal contributors very soon. Hopefully these guys work out for you.

This is not to rip your team but it provides a good example of where many people go wrong in the startup taking too much risk too early in the draft. There is a place for risky upside plays but it is later in the draft not when building the core of your team.
