Too many think he's a 2 down banger because LSU doesn't pass the ball to the RBs. He's a potential 1500-1800 combined yardage guy in the pros.

He seems to get passed over because Barkley has the receiving numbers and dynasty owners are looking for that "other" dual threat RB in the draft, even though he's sitting right there staring at them in the face.

Does Guice lose value if he goes to NE?

Postby Space Cowboy » Fri Apr 13, 2018 11:19 am

I'd still take him 1.02 but I sure would be deflated. On the bright side, Antwan Smith, Dillon, Maroney, Blount......

Not much IMO, would be the best thumper style back in NE in a while and those guys tend to always get a lot of TDs

I'm not too worried about that happening. I don't see Belichick taking Guice. The NE visit is likely just due diligence and/or smoke to goad other teams who want Guice into reaching for him a bit.

New England backs so predicting which week he'll go off vs a more pedestrian line will always be a challenge, but I don't think it'd be near as bad as it had been the past decade with Bellichek

I don't think NE has ever had a back the quality of Guice, so their committee wouldn't be as fantasy evil as other years. As another poster said, he could put up near Blount level TDs but now with yards behind it as well. James White would compliment him well there and not hurt his share. I like that as a spot for him over many, many others

How would people feel about Philly? They had him in for a visit too.

I would love it, but I'm not a big Ajayi guy.

Setting aside my man-crush on Ajayi (who I think is basically just an older version of Guice), Philly would be a rough spot for Guice, but most importantly it seems like it would be a terrible move by the Eagles organization.

Bad spot for Guice, because no matter what you think of Ajayi or Clement, they DO obviously like mixing in multiple backs and Ajayi is definitely not JAG.

Bad pick by Philly, because they only have ONE pick in the first TWO DAYS of the draft.

Are we sure he's getting y1 3rd down work anywhere? I'd think it bumps his floor and maybe dings his ceiling a slight bit short-term. Bill and Brady could both be gone by 2020 and then he's the featured part of the offense.

There is no way in hell the NEP take Guice in the 1st or 2nd.

That's too rich for them at a position they don't value high draft pedigree whatsoever. WR isn't far behind.

Belichick has single-handedly made both the RB and WR positions expendable pools of short-timers on typically lowball contracts.

And yes, I'd be deflated too because I'm 99% likely picking him! But it's just not happening.

Ajayi is a free agent next year, if they draft Guice it probably forms a rbbc this year with Ajayi moving on in free agency and Guice taking over. Remember folks this is dynasty after all.

I'd say it is more like Guice is what everyone wanted Ajayi to be. They might have liked mixing backs because what they had were 3 OK backs and no Alphas.

I brought it up since A) he visited there, and B) it has some of the same dynamics as NE. I think I would like Philly more for Guice. Better line, more run-based offense, and Ajayi is in the last year of his rookie contract.

I think this is smoke screen from eagles they just have 6 picks in the draft I think they want to trade down and win some picks in the 2nd and 3rd round

They have drafted RBs in the 1st and 2nd before (Laurence Maroney, Shane Vereen, Ridley in the early 3rd). The NFL is kind of coming out of the RB devaluation that was happening for years (RBs are going in the 1st and top 10 again, Free agent contracts for fresher backs are on the way up). NE was probably just exploiting the devaluation while it lasted the past few years.

I think it's a fool's errand saying BB is going to do X because he has done X the past few years.
