Yep, I'd take just about anything for Davis lol. It's not that he hasn't looked decent, I just have zero faith that he will be in any type of feature role next year. It's possible he comes back as the 2 or 3, so he will hold value has a high upside handcuff, but that's about the extend of what he's worth IMHO.

Mike Davis stays with Seattle

Postby zoster80 » Thu Mar 22, 2018 8:28 am

Mike Davis has reached an agreement on a one-year deal to stay in Seattle.

Does he have a chance to have flex appeal next year or does that O-line and the Carson/Prosise scare people off.

He's just depth for them. He couldn't find a job anywhere else in the league, and returned to Seattle most likely to a cheaper deal had they tendered him. So my guess is they just want a depth guy that knows the system and showed reasonably well in his few chances. I thought he looked pretty decent and was hoping he could land somewhere where he'd have a chance to be the guy. He's probably going to be a roster cut now when I have to make space for the incoming rookies.

JD McKissic is where it's at! Swing pass after swing pass for that mousy fella, since Doug Baldwin can't get every target

Considering what they've done to the WR squad, I wouldn't be surprised if they convert him into a WR

He was probably their best RB last year, so I can see him having some value, especially since none of their other RBs can stay healthy. Unless they draft someone who eventually takes over, I'd probably say Davis has the most redraft value of the current RBs.

I thought Davis looked good last year. It is probably between him, Carson, and a rookie for fantasy value there. I wouldn't give a top 30 rookie pick for him up for him, but he might be a good lotto ticket.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Really liked him and Ellington when they were at South Carolina. Davis I think could have some flex appeal. Ellington could be a nice WR4, he fit in nicely behind Hopkins and Fuller when Watson was throwing it all over the field.

I like him a lot. He is a very skilled RB. What concerns me is how Seattle views him. I thought they would have had a deal in place before he was free to visit another team.
That said, I still think he has a good chance to rise to the top there depending on who they draft.

I wouldn't write him off, and I'm glad he's back in Seattle. He'd probably rather play for the Hawks and have a shot at playing time instead of sitting behind Gurley and Brown in LA. Carson will get first crack, and I expect a late round RB or UDFA signing or two but we'll see what happens.

I also know they're really hoping Prosise can stay on the field this season and show them if he's got anything to offer. In his limited snaps, he's actually faired pretty well as a 3rd-down RB. Seattle is a tough team to parse at this point since they're going through such a major overhaul.

I think they got him cheaper than what the tender would have designated.

I’m sure they did, yes. I just meant that I thought they would think more of him than not tender him at all, or sign him. But they did take that chance and got him cheaper because of it.

I didn't see if there was any amount of guaranteed money in the signing, but they probably didn't tender him because they would be obligated to the full amount if he was back. This way if they cut him, no dead money. they are very tight against the cap. And will be for a few years.

Mike Davis stat line from last night was 21-101-2 4-23.

He is not on the rosters of over half my MFL teams - although he is on the rosters of all my best ball dynastys haha - the few leagues where he was on a H2H roster he definitely was NOT started.

Just bumping this thread to show that there were some people who believed in him (and I think Waldman of RSP was bullish on him coming out).
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..
