Krishawn Hogan breakout?

Postby jman3134 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 9:39 pm

While the situation is still fluid, with the draft and free agency continuing, what do we collectively think of Hogan's chances to breakout this year? He currently has to compete with Chester Rogers and Ryan Grant (And maybe Smelter) for the number 2 spot. There are many believers on this forum given his athleticism and tape coming out of college. Last year he tore his ACL almost immediately after getting a shot.

As a Colts fan, I'd love him to be relevant. But I doubt it.

When it comes to undrafted guys, I want almost no part of the bigger WRs. They went undrafted for a reason. Give me the smaller, shifty UDFAs, who might have been simply overlooked & underscouted.

^ No chance he was underscouted coming from NAIA?

I mean, he was probably by definition underscouted, but he has "ideal WR1 size". Guys like that WILL get drafted, sometime on day 3 at the latest, if they have any shred of potential. I just can't think of any bigger-bodied UDFA wideout who's been relevant. If anything, maybe Ricky Seals-Jones, haha? He came out as a WR.

In all seriousness, Miles Austin is just about the only one.

We'll see how things pan out. If Meredith goes to Indy he might not get a shot. If its TY, Rogers and Grant I think Hogan's path to a splash is a little less congested

Interesting. It's all speculation at this point, but they did just let Moncrief walk.

I'm really not feeling the Meredith love at this point though they've had him in. I don't think it's anywhere near a given that they want to sign him, so I think there's opportunity. I have to say that the 2018 class of WR's is leaving me luke-warm, and I'm not really high on any of them becoming more than a WR2 or bust. So perhaps a guy who's been developed in a system could carve out a role?

There's worse flyers to take out there. but Hogan is definitely a "flyer". If he hits though, you're golden!

The good news was he did get PT on Special Teams last year, so he was "decent" enough for the Colts to throw out there after swiping him from AZ....but as things go, he gets hurt and potentially gets buried.

I have him on my watch list, and with a 60 player roster I'm not ready to add him just yet. I think he's a long shot to have any fantasy relevance. I see the colts picked up Ryan grant, does he have any hope of being a factor in the offense?

My understanding was that Hogan would take over the void left by Moncrief. Only Meredith or big WR from the draft would cut into his time.
