Coco I'm not a fan of, but at least the other ones are easy to figure out.

I'm with you on this one. In fact, if I don't immediately recognize the player they are talking about, I'll just move on to the next post - if someone can put more thought into their post, I will too.skip wrote: ↑Tue Mar 20, 2018 12:02 pm Am I the only one starting to get annoyed with the laziness and use of weird naming conventions? I had to Google "RoJo" having seen it used multiple times in the last few days only to find it was Ronald Jones. I can't come up with any logical reason to shorten his name to "RoJo". He's hardly the only one. I understand not wanting to type out "Dorial Green-Beckham" every time you want to refer to him (not that anyone cares about him at this point) but it's starting to get rather tiring seeing this much shorthand with commonplace names.
In fact, lists of random players from different positions where the positions or teams aren't listed by the name - geez, don't wanna think that much! If you can't put the time in to make a cohesive post, then you won't be getting a decent answer from me.

Re: Shorthand
I don't even know if this is sarcasm or not, because I have definitely seen the "Jimmy G" nickname ascribed to both Jimmy Garoppolo and Jimmy Graham recently around here. The nondescript names are the ones that bug me the most, like "Jimmy G", just saying Howard, T. Taylor, etc.
What I also get lost on, is if I miss a month or two here new acronyms seem to have popped up. It took me a bit to figure out what JAG was a while ago, and I still haven't got a handle on what COP means. Maybe this is my "get off my lawn" moment...

Re: Shorthand
My favorite will be from this years rookie draft - Equanimeous Tristan Imhotep J. St. Brown
Currently shortened to just Equanimeous St. Brown on television and news articles
And now shortened a second time to ESB in the fantasy world.
I personally like the sound of ETIJSB. Roles off the tongue

I personally hate when people use
He's a "poor mans" _____________
That's my biggest issue
I'm gonna start referring to current guys in terms of a parallel with a random old player
He's a rich mans Rocket Ismael

Re: Shorthand
I dont like it for a more practical reasons....it makes using the search function harder than it should be. The forum software wont even let you search for AB or MT or ASG or OBJ or any other 2 or 3 letter combination.
I dont mind the shorthand in a post if you are writing a long post and reference players repeatedly, but typing the guys names out at least once in the title or at the beginning of the post makes things a whole lot more searchable.
