Charles Sims..
I know we're digging through dirty nickels here, but does anyone think that now that this guy is out of Tampa, he'll get signed onto a team that would utilize his skill set more often and move into a possible timeshare somewhere? I'm talking teams like Detroit, Chicago, Indy, or maybe NYG. He's still young and has the experience. Feel he deserves a bigger workload.

Re: Charles Sims..
The year he came out i had him graded as the best pass catching Rb in the draft. He has the skills to be a valuable Flex/RB2 in the right spot and with some health.

Re: Charles Sims..
I doubt he'll have much fantasy value even if he goes to a decent spot. He also has to stay healthy, which is something he's struggled with most of his career.

Re: Charles Sims..
Darkwa is still out there as well. Some guys need injuries to pare down the position a bit to get a shot.

Re: Charles Sims..
I was always surprised he didn't have a much bigger role in Tampa. He was clearly their second best back after Martin.

Re: Charles Sims..
Sims will land somewhere, but he's no lock for a significant role once he does. Working against Sims is the fact that he'll already be 28 to start this season. So he's getting old for his position, has some health concerns, and is very niche in what he can offer to an offense. This combination makes him a lukewarm free-agent to teams.
I think a shoulder injury is what's torpedoed Sims ability as a pass-protector the last two seasons, one which wasn't fully diagnosed for most of the '16 season and may have been made worse as he played with it. Now teams look at his thin build and say to themselves, "Well, of course that happened. And if we sign him there's a good chance it'll happen again." Then they look at his age and conclude there's not enough upside to go with the niche contribution and health risk.
I even wonder if the shoulder injury has become debilitating. I won't be shocked if he fails the physical whenever he gets signed.
PFF graded his play last year at 47.4, worse than replacement-level.
Koetter drafted McNichols -- projected out of college to be a receiving-back in the NFL -- last year in part because Sims' play nose-dived in '16, and I suspect because the shoulder injury Sims sustained that season was quietly severe.
Quizz Rodgers outplayed Sims and Martin in '16, and Barber outplayed Sims and Martin in '17. Martin and Sims haven't been Tampa's first and second best backs in two years, regardless of their nominal position on the depth-chart.

Sims runs very upright with poor pad level and stiff hips, but most damning of all, he's been struggling as a pass-protector since '16. That in particular is brutal for a guy that's trying to make his mark as a passing-down specialist.
