Baker Mayfield pro day thoughts

Postby hjernazian » Wed Mar 14, 2018 10:44 pm

I read that he had a very strong Pro-Day, with 7 Bronco exec's in attendance (including Elway and Vance Joseph). He completed 62/70 passes, was highly accurate, and presented with poise. I'm wondering what the community's thoughts are on him. I read an interesting stat that the only QB his height or shorter in recent memory was Johny Manziel - not a great comp. But, I am high on this kid, just can't decide where I put him. Of course, landing spot will affect a lot, but currently have him and Lamar Jackson as the 3a and 3b behind Darnold and Rosen, sorry, I don't buy into Josh Allen.

Thoughts on how height can be a factor? Or anything else I'm missing here? I anticipate he and Jackson will both be there at my pick 2.05. We move SF in 2019, but knowing my league, wouldn't be surprised if Rosen and/or Darnold are there as well.

Good grief. I dont think my browser has ever run slower than it did trying to read that article. Anyway, Mayfield has been my #1 QB and nothing has changed. I love the fiery competitor he is.

I love Mayfield's accuracy. If he was 2inches taller he'd be clear cut no1 player in this draft.

I think a team is going to kill this draft by getting Baker Mayfield somewhere around pick 4-10, I'd be surprised if he lasted longer.

Does he have the skills of a Brees or Flutie to make up for not being able to clearly see the passing lanes with 8-10 monsters in front of him?

That's the question. Due to nothing he could control in height, he'll have to be significantly better than an average QB to become one

I would go with Mayfield over Jackson in a SF transition league in the early 2nd

He's the safest QB and most NFL ready QB in this draft. He is likely to be gone by the time the Broncos are on the clock in my opinion. I like him. The Manziel comps are lazy and inaccurate in my opinion.

I never read too much into how a quarterback does at their pro-day, they are all set up to succeed and look fantastic.

That said, Baker Mayfield has the most fantasy upside in my opinion.

Best QB by 100 miles in this class. Hilarious that some people are willing to draft some of these losers ahead of him. Classic NFL.

I know the Broncos like him and I've predicted that they sign Keenum and draft Mayfield. I still think that happens.

He's my favorite qb in this class. I watched his whiteboard interview with Mariucci and I like the kid. I think he could beat Keenum too
