I definitely wouldn't describe it that way. http://www.gfycat.com/SatisfiedDisguise ... nshorthair
ManuManu wrote: Anyway, my concern with McKinnon once AP was suspended was that it pushed his timeline ahead a year early. I looked at this as a redshirt season with hopes of him flashing enough next year to replace AP in 2016. Now he HAS to play well this year or the Vikings will draft the heir apparent in 2015.

Anyone else see it this way? Part of me wants to trade him now, but I'm intrigued enough by the athleticism that sitting on him seems like the right move.
Vikes will be drafting RB regardless. There was already rumor that the Vikes needed to do something about Peterson's 2015 salary. Asiata wasn't here for the role he's been thrust into. Even if ADP does stay I'd call it a horse apiece on the pros cons of playing vs. not playing re: draft risks. It may even be more likely that a front office will do a draft hedge when a prospect in waiting hasn't proven it on the field.
Wow @ the run!

If McKinnon does well this year I would think the Vikings still draft a RB to sit behind him. He will be the vet and the new guy will be his backup, just like he is Asiata's backup this year. Plain and simple. They'd have to be stupid to go into a season with all thier eggs in one basket.

I think they would bring in a big back to compliment McKinnon if AP in done in Min. That run show off the skills set that made him so intriguing, he might be inconsistent but should be able to hit the big play.

When I mentioned that I read he fell down on a potential long TD, I should have said it was a catch, not the 55-yard run.

Traded him and Marvin Jones (in my mind he's a thrown in) for Torrey Smith. I know Smith hasn't been anything so far this year, but I think that's a huge win.

You're definitely buying low, but I think there's a reasonable chance that ends up a big loss for you.

Could be, but it's a start 1 RB, 3 WR 16 team league so having a WR2 is more valuable than having a RB1.

It's impossible to say what the Vikings will do in the offseason. McKinnnon is obviously a talented runner but can't be trusted in pass protection or as a pass catcher yet. That will likely take time to fix. I don't see him being the starter in 2015 but it could happen if he really works on his pass blocking. They can always bring in a third down pass catching back. That said, there's a pretty extensive list of FA backs and a purportedly strong, deep rookie class at the position. I can't see them not strengthening the position in one way or another. It's far too soon to speculate with any certainty.

Just got offered Tavon Austin for JM..... I like Austin, but for the team in my sig I think I'm set at WR/TE for a while, and I'm just not sure Austin has top 15-20 upside... Anyone think this is a trade I should make?

With what you've got I'd much rather hold McKinnon.

That's what I was thinking, too... My WR's have pretty much carried me this year, and I'm pretty solid 1 through 7... I don't even know if Austin could crack my top 7 for who knows how long... And with a premium being placed on RB's lately, I just think when you have even the CHANCE to catch lightning in a bottle it's just hard to trade that unless you've got an overwhelming offer on the table... And to me, Austin is nowhere near that overwhelming offer... Just wanted to gather opinions to make sure I wasn't misjudging him... =)

Isn't it about time we start thinking about a potential change to the name of this thread lol?

I'm thinking more along the lines of something like Jerick Mckinnon, a rich man's Christine Michael? OR Jerrick Mckinnon, a RB who actually gets work, unlike Christine Michael.

LOL, sorry. I just saw the thread and it made me chuckle.

*Note* I'm posting this here since this thread seems to be turning into "What is his value?"

In a 12 team PPR league league with 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1R/W/TE starting spots for offense, I'm trying to put together a trade offer for McKinnon with Jordan Cameron as what I'm selling.

Jordan Cameron is expendable as I have Jimmy Graham, and my RBs are lacking but I have high upside talent in waiting (CMike, Crowell, Bryce, Ingram) and would like to add McKinnon to my stable.

My question is what do I need to add to the McKinnon side for the value to equal Cameron? My trade partner has a need for TE upgrade, so it already works from that standpoint and he has said he is open to McKinnon+ for Cameron depending on the +. If I go for a draft pick, what should I start with? A 1st? 2nd?

Other options on his team are QB or IDP. I like my WRs and we have a 6 WR roster limit so I don't want to try to get one there, but I could upgrade my QB2 or even net a starter since Cam is floundering this season with injuries. He has Alex Smith, Russell Wilson, and Jay Cutler. IDPs of note are JPP, Lavonte David. We don't start many, though, and I'm rolling out a 4 player defense of Kuechly, Worrilow, Harrison Smith, and JJ Watt, so I'm not sure anything would help me there.

Are any of the below close or fair?
McKinnon + 1st for Cameron
McKinnon + 2nd for Cameron
McKinnon + Russell Wilson for Cameron
McKinnon + Alex Smith for Cameron
