I think in general we use the eye test the wrong way, specifically we overvalue guys who look really good against bad teams, or we overreact to bad performances against stout defenses.

With running backs, I think it really matters how good a guy looks relative to the other backs on his team rather than how he looks relative to the other backs in the league. IE McKinnon looked much better than McCoy today.

Having said that, when I watch McKinnon I think he looks head and shoulders better than Asiata. I only own him in redraft and I don't think I'll be able to get a piece of him in dynasty, but damn. He looks great, and I think we're looking at a RB2 the rest of the way. His rate stats won't be as good as they were today, but I think he'll be out-touching Asiata as he develops as a blocker and receiver.

With my last pick this year I had to choose between him and Crowell. Feelin better about losing out on Crowell after today's performance.

I preferred Michael as a prospect and I still do, but I thought the biggest difference between the two of them was Michael's superior situation. Now? I own Michael and wouldn't trade him for McKinnon, but I wouldn't think it's crazy to disagree. McKinnon has looked great and his situation might be better.

This is an amazing comparison. Both athletic freaks who were drafted behind aging superstars. I still think CMike has more value, but the gap is closing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but today's 150ish total yards by McKinnon is about double what CMike has in his entire NFL career? From what I hear, McKinnon had an extremely close TD called back, and slipped on what would have been a 60 yard TD breakaway. Seems like Asiata is getting all his yards off of pounding the ball for 3 yards and was fortunate that the Vikings got him up close to the goal line 3 times today. I definitely expect McKinnon to get a few good chances in the next coming weeks.

So... has his price just jumped dramatically off this game? I ask as an owner who has had people ask about him.

I would say yes.

Crowell's value jump high after he performed well..

And I think McKinnon is even more valuable since there is no Ben Tate-like guy in front of him.

Im excited but hes still just a stash to me. Vikes arent playing Atlanta every week and however underwhelming Asiata may be, they still seem commited to feeding him the bulk of the carries.

I seeing how they used them, I think Asiata still has a very nice 2013 role (100 total yards) and this will def be a time share going forward with Asiata getting the goal line work.

McKinnon was a 2015 player for me so this year is a bonus, i thought he would get the sproles role in the offense but from what i saw yesterday i think he is the future.

Cristian Michael is still a myth to me, i have him on a couple of teams but would never have traded for him for the cost people have wanted.

Yeah, I agree that his value is probably through the roof right now. I wish I was able to hang onto him after the preseason. Starting kickers cost me a shot at what McKinnon can bring. Salt. Y.

Injuries and a lack of an IR spot forced me to drop him last week. This hurts. At least I dropped him hours before kickoff so no one could claim him.. maybe I can get him on waivers..

Ouch.

I offered a 3rd rd pick for him two wks ago and was laughed at. It would probably cost me an unreal amount now. I have two 2nds that are on track to be 2.04 or better, I should've just given him one of those then. I would love to hear what some are going to want for him now.

I only watched a little of that game during commercials for Niners-Eagles. I read that he fell down on a potential long TD. Is that right?

Anyway, my concern with McKinnon once AP was suspended was that it pushed his timeline ahead a year early. I looked at this as a redshirt season with hopes of him flashing enough next year to replace AP in 2016. Now he HAS to play well this year or the Vikings will draft the heir apparent in 2015.

Anyone else see it this way? Part of me wants to trade him now, but I'm intrigued enough by the athleticism that sitting on him seems like the right move.

In another league where I traded a haul for AP this past offseason, I fought to get it to include the 1.3 which I flipped for 2.1 and 2015 1st which is looking to be the 1.1 again, and doubled down on the Vikings backfield by drafting McKinnon in case something happened to Peterson. I'm glad I didn't bet on Peterson being a long term answer..

It would take a ton for me to move McKinnon where I have him. I'd rather hold and see him develop.
