Hmm really?
I cannot seem to find it anywhere.
If true; it will be interesting if he lands somewhere that needs a pass catching RB.

Source?
I highly doubt that this story is true?

Not seeing anything confirming. He did have some cryptic tweet a few hours ago. Maybe just assuming based off that?

Re: Jerick Mckinnon
Kyle Juszczyk is a hybrid FB/TE/H-back. His presence is as likely to keep a TE at the bottom of that chart off the 53-man roster as an RB.
Including Kyle, the Niners had five nominal "running-backs" rostered at some points during the season last year: Breida, Morris, Mostert/Dayes, Wilson, Juszczyk.
That the Niners thought Dayes needed to be promoted from the practice-squad to replace Mostert when the latter went on IR shows that the Niners don't really think of Juszczyk as a running-back; they didn't consider him a viable option for taking significant snaps at the position in the event of more injuries. They wanted to keep him doing his "OW" work regardless of what might happen to the RBs.
It is plausible a nominal RB chart of Breida/Coleman/McKinnon/Mostert/Juszczyk could all make the 53-man roster. It's more questionable that they would all be active on gameday. Still possible, though. It would require having maybe only two TEs active (Kittle, Celek), or one less WR.

Re: Jerick Mckinnon
I do not follow the 49ers that closely - can anyone recall how much buzz McKinnon was getting in OTAs, training camp and/or pre-season?
Regardless, while I think it is a possibility, it seems rash for the 49ers to cut bait on a guy who they have yet to actually use in-season yet. Injuries happen, and yes they did get Coleman, but they had to know that a year ago there was a good chance Coleman would be a FA this year and they still signed McKinnon to a 4 year deal. Again I am not saying it cannot happen - just that it is not good business to do so. If McKinnon has a disappointing or injured plagued (or both) 2019 - I'd expect it, but to cut McKinnon now is (at least to me) similar to the Giants trading Beckham - a waste of organizational resources and a sign of poor long-range planning.

Re: Jerick Mckinnon
If I had to guess Breida will be the odd man out. What better player to fill the "coleman role" than Coleman? but on a serious note McKinnon was being very hyped up as a 70+ receptions RB and getting the majority of carries, still not a bellcow workload on the grown but something in the 200 carry range. I still think that's realistic. I expect a similar year Freeman and Coleman had in 2016 where Freeman had around 200 carries and coleman around 150 where McKinnon is in the 200 range and Coleman is back in the 150 range.ArrylT wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 9:22 am I do not follow the 49ers that closely - can anyone recall how much buzz McKinnon was getting in OTAs, training camp and/or pre-season?

Also I know they 49er's have an out on McKinnon this offseason but they didn't sign him to 7.5 million a year just to cut him if he doesn't exceed expectations, they really believe in him. Coleman just signed for something like 8+ for 2 years with it being closer to 10 with incentives. Thats a lot less money which makes me believe he's still playing second fiddle.

Re: Jerick Mckinnon
In more or less words Shanahan basically said the WR depth chart is weak and they'd carry 4 RBs for the season. Kyle is a FB/H-Back.

Explicit declaration, there.
3-man committee it is.
Mostert is there for special-teams and the Niners don't consider Juszczyk a running-back. I guess all five will be active on Sundays. Alf Morris and Jeff Wilson won't make the 53, I assume.

Re: Jerick Mckinnon
Here’s my take on McKinnon. I’ve seen every professional play he has had and he’s just okay. Maybe the vikes misused him but when Matt Asiata is keeping you off the field, it’s not a good thing. He never did anything special. He busted some run and caught some balls, but he’s just missing something.

Re: Jerick Mckinnon
It doesn't necessarily clarify anything about who gets touches and when. It just means McKinnon and Coleman are on the team, and Breida will most likely, too. Who knows how they will be used?ninotoreS wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 1:24 pm https://twitter.com/MaioccoNBCS/status/ ... 0750504960

There are also rumours of Eagles and 49ers about Breida, although I'm not sure how much truth there is to that.
