I've got a warm spot for Sammy. His run at the end of 2015 helped win my first dynasty title.

That said, I sold awhile ago. He was never going to be the wr1 many people envisioned in KC. He's 3rd on the target totem pole at best.

I think he can produce boom/bust low end wr2/high wr3 numbers, but that isn't what people want to hear who had such high expectations heading into the year.

Sad career trajectory. Whether it be bad luck, or self-inflicted he'll always be a "coulda been". He's a wr4 to me, not startable unless you are desperate. Cooper is very similar to Watkins in my eyes, but cooper is still hanging in the wr3 category and still has an outside chance to hit wr2, but will likely end up in watkins wr territory. Watkins is a hold. You'll get dirt for return so you might as well hold the soiled goods;

The good is that all 3 of his catches were plays specifically designed for him. They want to use him. If he can add just a little bit more on non-screens he can be a WR3 I think.

I'm with you, I'm actually not done hoping yet. He's got a mammoth-armed QB. At some point, defences are going to hard-double Hill everywhere he goes in an effort to shut them down. To my mind - that makes me think Sammy will have some blowup weeks when they look for him as the counter.

Could even be as soon as @PIT this week.

be patient hes a great player. remember for a year and a half when people told everyone they were insane for wasting a roster spot on josh gordon? only to be rewarded with a return or being able to trade him for a 1st etc. the highest of skill players are worth "wasting" a roster spot on and being patient until they hit.

if you can trade minimal value assets for him do it!

Josh Gordon put up a 87 / 1650 / 9 season - the reason why people had to *wait* on him was because he was away from the game of football for so long.

Sammy Watkins' best season was 60 / 1040 / 9 - the reason why people are still *waiting* on him is because he hasn't been able to produce consistently, to expectations, over the course of his entire career. I don't think he's ever proven to be elite.

It was a quiet week one, but he had something like 20% of the target share on a low volume passing day. Tyreek won't house two touchdowns early in every game and the Chiefs are going to be in shootouts where Sammy will have big weeks. Be patient.

Think it's pretty tough to confidently say he's going to be the lead dog in this KC offense. I view him as a WR2/3 with upside.
