The only unknown now is, will Denver still draft a QB @5? If they don't then Swag could have a legitimate shot if Keenum implodes.
Draft the Notre Dame guard here if he makes it this far @ 5

Keenum is an upgrade for Denver, but whether he is being brought in for grooming a 2018 QB draft pick or not, I don't know. I do however know that since his days in Houston, Gary Kubiak has always liked Case Keenum.

I suppose. I honestly wonder how much better Keenum is than Siemien. There were days when TS looked pretty good as well, he just didn't string as many together as Keenum did last year.

Siemien could barely move in the pocket. It's a big upgrade but I agree with the majority --- probably not the long term answer.

I think Denver will trade down and grab a QB around 12/15, or move down again and go for Rudolph / Falk in the early 2nd.

Woah.... woah.... I"m wondering if you watched games last year.

So, this ^ just means that you didn't watch too many Minnesota Vikings games last year. If you had, you'd likely have thought better about what you just typed.

He looked pretty good during the first 2 games of the year, but after that, it was all downhill. He only had 1 game after that where he threw more than 1 TD and only had 3 games the entire year where he didn't thrown an interception. He threw for 300 yards only once and it took him 50 attempts. I actually thought he'd be much better than that after having a decent 2016 season, but I have no idea what happened last year. He just looked scared out there whenever I watched any Broncos games.

I said this in another thread, but I think Sanders > Thomas in terms of 2018 stats. Sanders' routes and skill set fits more of the Adam Thielen role than Thomas, and Keenum is better at / likes his high-percentage throws.

Thomas excels at YAC. Short route, break a tackle, take it for chunks. This duo of Keenum to D.Thomas will work. Keenum is a tough as nails competitor. A great leader in the huddle and in the locker room and community. He took his team (along with a lot of help from his defense) to the NFC championship game. Keenum has big balls.... (according to Zimmer. lol) If you as an NFL fan can't see the upgrade from Seimian to Keenum, well, then, I'm not sure what I could say in a forum to help.

I would say he's an upgrade, but at best he's average to a little above average. I don't think he's the QB we saw last year, of course he's going to a team that is built a lot like the Vikes so he has that going for him. I'd say Denver goes about 8-8 maybe 9-7. I hope he fixates on Thomas though.

are people really saying Keenum isn't THAT much of an upgrade over Trevor?

I'm the OP and I didn't even ask about how they comp!

As a lifelong Bronco fan, and one that watched every minute of every preseason and regular season game (only time I don't watch NFL RedZone) I can tell you Trevor is at best, a below-average backup QB. I get that our line sucks and he didn't have much time, but the guy consistently made poor decisions, missed his WRs by wide margins, did little to nothing to help the pass game, looked lost in our offense formations, and honestly, was one of the worst QB's in recent memory - and I'm even going back to "Jake the Snake" Plummer and Brian Griese days. Guy can't ball, period, surprised how Minny views him as a legitimate backup to Cousins.

This is not to say that Keenum is fantastic by any means, but you simply can not compare the two. Trevor had his shot much like Keenum did under very similar circumstances. It's not even close. I'm just wondering if he is good enough to net some fantasy improvements on my guys DT and Emmanuel. I still don't see (in real life) the Broncos being more than a 8-8 team with Keenum, but hopefully he can be a serviceable QB and act as a bridge to our likely QB selection in the draft.

haha. i wanted to like him so bad, after the Elway days, I was only 15 and started to really understand the game, and play it, watching Bronco games. It was painful.

I don't see how this move doesn't improve the outlook for DT and Sanders at least a little bit. Agreed that Keenum isn't likely turning into Kurt Warner before our eyes, but he's definitely superior to the three-headed dungheap that Denver rolled out at QB in 2017. Nowhere to go but up really.

I'm curious hjernazian if there's any talk about Chad Kelly in Denver? I realize he's been injured/rehabbing and hasn't been able to do anything. But any chance he gets to compete, or will they simply leave him running the scout team? I thought he was talented coming into the league, but he had maturity issues that contributed to his slide in the draft.
