I think the comparison of Burton to all the much-hyped-but-never-did-it TEs that reached free agency is fair. If I have Burton, yeah, I want to see where he lands & if he can be a fantasy starter. If I don't have Burton, no, I'm not going to pay much for him. The risk is high.

The main problem with Burton is the type of role he likely plays with his next team. He is not big enough to play the normal every down inline tight end spot. Burton, while a good receiver for a tight end, is not the dominant type of receiver which warrants consistently being on the field in spite of his blocking deficiencies like a Jordan Reed. Burton seems destined for a part-time receiving TE2 role for a creative offensive coordinator which probably limits his usefulness in fantasy.

Got him off the wire at the end of last season, I like his upside, I think he pushed his stock up quite a bit in the SB. Would move him for an early second but otherwise I'm holding.
QBs: Dak Prescott, Teddy Bridgewater, Taysom Hill, Jameis Winston, Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton
RBS: CMC, Miles Sanders, Gurley, JK Dobbins, AJ Dillon, Lamical Perine, Ito Smith
WRS: Godwin, DJ Moore, Juju, Keenan Allen, Diggs, McLaurin, Dionte Johnson, Jalen Reagor, Bryan Edwards, Brandon Aiyuk, Tim Patrick
TEs: Mark Andrews, TJ Hockenson, Irv Smith
DEF:Miami

Best of luck! People in my league(s) usually dont even fork over early 2nds for established TEs like Rudolph :( - would be awesome if they did that for a Burton. 8-)

your buddies V. McDonald, L. Green, Fleener, Tim Wright, Troy Niklaus & Jace Amaro are awaiting your arrival in Post-Hypeville. :ewink:
You can probably add Dwayne Allen, Jermaine Gresham and Martellus Bennett to this last also
I dont think Martellus Bennett deserves to be mentioned with the rest of these players. He has been a starter, and a good one at that, for several seasons/teams after leaving Dallas.

Probably not - but maybe he meant more for this year where Bennett had hype with 2 teams (GB & NE).

Kudos to both the owner acquiring for taking a shot and on the owner making the flip for profit.

And maybe condolences in advance if Burton doesnt (a) land in a good spot or (b) doesnt produce in a full time starter role

Yeah the owner who sold Burton hates trading, but ironically is really good at it.

prolly just acts like he doesn't like trading thus forcing other owners to overpay to get what they want - sounds like a great strategy to me . Trade sluts are so easy to take down in general . Their burning desire to act rather than exercise patience is often their undoing !

Yep. I am a trade slut for sure. Same guy got me. He held my desire for Foreman at ransom. I ended up giving up a 1st (projected late) the week before his injury. Then to ensure that 1st would be earlier, he destroyed the original owner of that 1st in a trade which hurt the team enough (ended up 1.05).

Comparison to Green is odd. How can anyone compare any player to a guy who’s career was cut short due to health concerns? Even if the situation is similar the result is guaranteed to be different.

Why do people like the NO situation? Jimmy Graham? That offense is dead. The current offense is a run heavy and a TE is going to be expected to block. Don't see Burton as a great fit for that style and I doubt that team is going to produce another Jimmy Graham anytime soon regardless of who ends up there.
