At least it is not like it is big money so they know he is nothing special. I really hope ARob gets out.

I dont get this at all.
I much rather have Kurt Cuisins..

You got everything but a QB why keep him.

Why would he (kurt) go to any other team than, the Jags?
If they would have cut him, they would be all in on KC, not like the Vikings who got 3 QBs

Just for future reference that would be Kirk. Kirk Cousins. To respond to your post, I agree that Kirk would be an upgrade over Bortles but I believe if they didn’t sign Kirk by a certain date (which would allow them to cut Bortles) they would owe Bortles contract on top of the money they sign Kirk for. Perhaps they didn’t feel strongly about getting Kirk and went with what they had.

Them having to Pay Bortles would be dependent on his physical right before free agency opens for his hand surgery that he sat on for years... probably did this to lock in his 5th year option money lol

Aside from statistical performance, I'm not exactly sure why Cousins is considered a great commodity. 3 years as the starter in Washington and they went 9-7, 8-7-1, and 7-9. As fantasy owners, I get it... For an NFL club, I'm not so sure he's the missing piece.

Aside from Peyton Manning, I can't remember a better quarterback being a free agent in the new-era, passing NFL. Kirk is a franchise caliber QB who will be overpaid because those are so hard to find. He's clearly above Bortles for me, though their price will be a lot different.

All on a team that barely has another player of note. Washington is a garbage team that has no business winning 8 or 9 games when you look at the roster outside of Cousins. 28th in team defense, 28th in rushing, and the only good receiving option is always hurt. With DeShone Kizer at QB this is an 0-16 team.

Sure he's not Brady, Peyton, or Rodgers where you get an automatic 12 wins just by having them regardless of what you put around them, but that's pretty much the end of the list of guys that can do that. Even very high paid options like Brees, Big Ben, Stafford have a bunch of below .500 seasons when they were playing without much help.

Correction:
The Steelers have not dipped below .500 since Ben joined the team. A few 8-8 seasons, but never lower.

Question: Quarterback Blake Bortles signed his new contract in late February that included a reported $26 million guaranteed. What did you make of the deal from the Bortles and team perspectives?

Halsell: From Bortles’ standpoint, the $26.5 million guaranteed represents almost $7.5 million more than he would have made on his 2018 fifth-year Option (assuming – absent this extension – the option would have been picked up). Given the uncertainty if he was going to make it to the fifth-year option, locking in a $7.5 million increase made sense for Bortles. For the Jags, paying the additional $7.5 million in order to control Bortles’ rights for an additional two years (2019-20) is a more-than-reasonable [decision], considering how expensive the quarterback market is. Also, if the Jags decide to move on from Bortles after the 2018 season, while he’ll account for $16.5 million in 2019 dead money, that would still represent a cap savings for $4.5 million (his current 2019 cap number is $21 million). All in all, it’s a true win-win deal for both player and club.
