Yep he's level for another year. Probably a good thing from a conservative perspective, but I expect he would've ended up in a solid situation had he been a free agent.

It is still possible he either (a) gets traded or (b) gets signed by another team but basically the non-exclusive franchise tag suggests that if either of those scenarios was to occur that the other team would be making him a key component of their offense as well, since it would be insane to give up 2 firsts for a guy who was your 3rd or 4th option.

"Possible" sure.. But I would be incredibly surprised if it happened.

I believe Matt Cassel was franchised prior to being traded.

edit - yes he was. Franchised Feb 5 2009, and traded along with Vrabel to KC for Pick 34.

The language in the player's agreement no longer allows for a player to be tagged and traded to the best of my knowledge. Now a team may only tag a player if they have the intention of rostering the player for that season. In this case though, another team could give up the picks to get him since it isn't exclusive. I highly doubt that happens though.
