Devontae Booker - 2018 Broncos RB1 ?
Devontae Booker - 2018 Broncos RB1 ?
Any thoughts on recent reports regarding Broncos likely parting ways w/ CJA and handing over the reins to Booker? If they go through with the rumors, where does Booker value lie? Late 1st?
I've been a fan of Booker's since he was at Utah so I'm biased but he does have a 3 down skill set (excellent pass catcher) and has shown flashes of talent. He been more or less a JAG since entering the NFL but the sample size is low and the Broncos coaching staff, who see him in practice frequently, seem to be very very high on him.

Not really high on Booker. I think Denver drafts a RB that will lead to RBBC. He's a jag imo and I was high on him when Denver drafted him

I don’t really think he will fall that far but surely the Broncos would take Barkley if he did, right? As far as Booker, I would say he’s a decent flyer, if he’s cheap but I haven’t seen many special traits from him so far either.broncohead wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 10:22 pm Not really high on Booker. Even if CJA gets cut, Booker will be as exciting as Perine will be this year, and not much more exciting than Rob Kelley was going into 2017

Re: Devontae Booker - 2018 Broncos RB1 ?
I think booker will surprise. Imagine if the broncos sign cousins and draft nelson. Their offense will be night and day vs last yr. He's a great receiving back so if the broncos fix the qb spot i think he'll be a nice flex piece. I'd buy for anything less than a 1st if you can.

Re: Devontae Booker - 2018 Broncos RB1 ?
This assumes that Henderson doesn’t beat him out.
It assumes that they don’t sign Crowell, Hyde, Lewis, McKinnon, etc. Lord, they could sign Adrian Peterson, which seems like an extremely Elway thing to do.
It assumes that they don’t draft Barkley, Guice, Michel, Chubb, Jones, or somebody else who outplays him.
This happens with a few RBs every year- guys that are bad but suddenly find themselves poised for a starting role, and everybody then loses their minds and forgets that free agency and the draft are both looming.
My general rule is that if I’m holding an asset that is primarily valuable because of its situation before free agency and the draft, I try to sell that asset. Booker is a prime example. Sell his bleep right this second.

I'd buy Booker for a mid 2nd or later. If he gets a shot, he could surprise espcially if they lock up Cousins.

Re: Devontae Booker - 2018 Broncos RB1 ?
I don't think denver is going to sign or draft an rb unless it's to add depth, they're not going after a top tier guy. They would cut CJA to clear cap space to make a run at kirk. Signing an FA rb completely undoes that. If Barkley is there at 5, could Elway say no? Probably not but i doubt he's there at 5.OhCruelestRanter wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2018 11:26 am This assumes that Henderson doesn’t beat him out.

Booker hasn't shown to be anything but a depth piece as well. Anyone they bring in will compete for touches in this scenariomclilj wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2018 1:28 pmI don't think denver is going to sign or draft an rb unless it's to add depth, they're not going after a top tier guy. Re: Devontae Booker - 2018 Broncos RB1 ?
I could see Denver restructuring their backfield the way Minnesota did last offseason- let starter walk (Peterson/Anderson), bring in free agent (Murray) to compete with last year's best remaining back (McKinnon/Booker), draft competition (Cook).mclilj wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2018 1:28 pmI don't think denver is going to sign or draft an rb unless it's to add depth, they're not going after a top tier guy. Re: Devontae Booker - 2018 Broncos RB1 ?
this exactly. i too am in the camp of being kinda eh with booker but its been reported that the broncos love him and want him to be their rb1 and thats all that really matters imo. given touches i could see a solid rb2 out of him. not getting hopes up at all but i am buying him cheap if possible before others see the news

I feel like we have seen this story dozens of times.
An underwhelming back up / 2nd RB is really liked by coaches because they are letting the number one go - and now suddenly he is ready to be the starter during the offseason, prior to the draft and free agency.
We know how this story ends.
