I dont see how anyone can watch the respective touches of AJones and JWilliams and think JWilliams did better with them...but, that doesnt seal the deal. AJones is NOT as consistent at pass blocking. Rodgers is the number 1 priority on that team and unless AJones makes the necessary improvements I do think JWilliams will get the majority of the touches.

AJones could still be an ok flex guy, bc he can do well with limited touches.

Honestly I think Ty Montgomery will have a chance to see a decent amount of work in the backfield as well. He was productive as a pass catcher out of the backfield before he went down and then Rodgers went down. He's got the best hands of the group and could still see 8-12 combined touches a game.

I think this backfield is going to be a hot fantasy mess next season. I'm avoiding altogether rather than staking a claim on one of them and crossing my fingers I guessed right.

It definitely has a chance to turn in to a Patriots conundrum for sure.

I thi k he had like 4 runs over 10 yards or something. I'm not positive as I can't find the stat now. Like 4 out of 158 carries over 10 yards. He's jag imo. If Jones didn't get hurt he would have walked away with the job imo.
I believe you're thinking week 13 for the 20 yard carry. Problem is he went down twice with knee injuries. Injury risk seems rather high to me.
Yes my bad. Thing is I think it was same injury just nagging. Let it heal over the off season. I'm not ready to worry about it career wise yet.

Sell Williams. Sell Jones. Sell Montgomery. Wait for GB to invest significantly into one RB.

This proly the best idea but I'm just not sure they Invest heavily in a back. They need ao many more pieces so i think they will just make due.

Probably not this year. But maybe eventually. No one is saying you must have one of the three this year so best to avoid for now.

I like that there are so many Aaron Jones fans. That should keep the price for Williams low.

I also agree that none of these backs are long term starters - Green Bay may draft one of the many talented backs this year, in the top three rounds. I doubt it, but the threat is there.

With glaring needs at pass rush and corner (arguably receiver as well with potential Jordy/Cobb cuts) I have a difficult time seeing them drafting an RB early.

I have no idea who will lead, not sure GB does either.

I traded Jones with Cousins for David Johnson to a top playoff contender before Williams got involved.

Then a team traded for Williams and dropped Ty in the trade to make room. I picked him up off waivers, and he is currently on the trading block. 😁

I spent two seasons chasing fools gold in the Seattle backfield. Good luck getting the "right" one.

Jones will be the guy going forward. He steadily improved his pass pro through training camp and should continue that trend with another camp. I always get befuddled when people say that McCarthy is a rbbc coach when it couldn't be farther from the truth. If he has a steady back he will run them and give the backup a series or two during the game. His hand was just forced the last couple years with an overweight Lacy and having to work with a converted wr due to running out of RBs. The staff, and especially Rodgers, are very high on Jones. Dude has elite vision and knows when to hit the hole.

Jones and Montgomery kind of play the same role, don't they? They both are explosive pass-catching options. Obviously Montgomery can move back to WR, so that may be the caveat.

Williams seems to be the back that will get the role to grind out a lead at the end of the 3rd.

Granted, I own a share of Williams and would ship him in a heartbeat, but still.

Even with Montgomery, McCarthy was giving him clear lead back touches while he could.

If your expectations are that Williams gets 15-20 touches a week once Rodgers is back, then I think you're likely to be disappointed. Assuming he doesn't, he'll need a significant spike in efficiency for reasonable RB2 consideration. Personally, I think they'll be aiming to split work pretty evenly among Williams, Jones and Montgomery/Mays leaving each as hunch/desperation plays unless one of them is ruled out any given week.
