Senior Bowl 2018 Discussion Thread

Postby jaykay22 » Tue Jan 23, 2018 2:03 pm

Didn't see one, figured I'd start it!

This has been a pretty decimated group, but still a lot of interesting names.

The weigh ins and measurements today had some interesting ones:

-James Washington came in just a hair under 5'11, but 210 and with some freakishly long arms at 33 7/8, which is seriously impressive and his 9 5/8 hands are large, too. The Chris Chambers and Steve Smith comps seem to be there, as he seems to play bigger than his size and has a nice catch radius and great 50/50 ball ability despite his height. An unusual build for a WR to say the least!

-Tre'Quan Smith might as well change his name to Inspector Gadget, despite being 6'1 5/8 and 202 his arm length of 34 1/2 is incredible! That's Jadaveon Clowney like, and he should be an intriguing mid to late day 2 prospect. Hands are a bit small at just 9, though.

-Rashaad Penny came in at 5'11 224, and should easily be the best RB of the group the entire week. Very excited to see how he does in practice and on the field on Saturday. The dark horse to be a top 5 RB and a late first rounder in rookie drafts going forward I think. Some good 2017 playoff teams should be able to select him in the second half of rookie drafts barring a meteoric rise by him (which is totally possible as there's a lot to love about him as a prospect from vision, patience, with a solid mix of power and decision-making).

-Akrum Wadley has had some comparisons to Kareem Hunt due to some flashes on tape, but at sub 5’10, 188 lbs, 8 1/8 hands, and 29 7/8 arms, he seems a bit too tiny to be much more than a small third down back.

-Justin Watson is an under the radar WR out of Penn. Ivy Leaguer and Wharton School of Business student. 6'2 5/8, 213 with 9 3/4 hands and 33 3/4 arms. A good week in Mobile could get his name more well known.

-Dallas Goeddert was made in a lab. The SDSU TE might cement his status as the dynasty TE1 of this class as he continues to rise. 6'4 1/2, 260 with huge hands, long arms and wingspan.

-Ito Smith checked in at 5'9 201 with some big mitts for a RB of his size at 9 3/8! Short arms, but otherwise a strong BMI for the position.

Feel free to add!

James Washington showing out early.

https://twitter.com/FF_TravisM/status/9 ... 95978?s=17

I think the Ok State offense being able to rack up stats easily, the seemingly short height coupled with the unusual build for a WR might lead to Washington being that "pretty good college player who gets overlooked by the dynasty community only to then become a stud right out the gate as a rookie drafted late into the first" a la Michael Thomas. Obviously Washington is a different WR from Thomas and there is only one Drew Brees and Thomas already has him feeding him the ball, but I think you get my point about Washington.

I dont consider it a bad thing if they take him as long as they grab Smith or Cousins in FA. Give this kid a clip board and make him ride the bench for awhile.

Mayfield measured over 6' and had 9.5' hands, had heard rumors that he had baby hands so that's good to know.

Baker Mayfield showed up late and won't play because his mom was hospitalized

Some Brown's "reporter" tried to bash him about him intentionally making it about him, he slammed back about his mom, and that reporter had to delete and issue an apology looking like a fool

I hate that social media led to any blogger can claim to be a reporter and publish whatever's on their mind and there's 0 accountability that the story is accurate

Rashaad Penny is so bad. He looks like an average college RB. I wouldn't touch him unless he was in a perfect situation with no competition and available in the 3rd round.
