Josh McDaniel to Indy

Postby DJB » Mon Jan 15, 2018 5:19 pm

Nothing 100% confirmed but appears likely.
Thoughts? Hopefully his creative mind helps Luck and that oline. Pats tend to throw the ball all over the field as opposed to targeting one guy but who knows?

McDaniels couldn't ask for a better situation. The team as a whole is questionable, but he's way ahead of where he was with Orton/Tebow in Denver.

I do not know what to expect. Most of his career was with the Pats where we all know the true master mind is BB. His stints with the Rams & Broncos were meh and Indy is a pretty big mess.

I feel like this is going to get overhyped; I have lukewarm expectations.

Maybe he will convince them to trade Luck to go with Brissett. lol

Diehard Colts fan checking in. I for one am tentatively excited about the idea of him coming aboard. I know Pats assistants don't have a great track record, but I think that's largely irrelevant due to small sample size. The same was true of Brady's backups, and yet Jimmy G looks like a true stud (not just on paper, I'm talking eye test too).

Anywho, this is such a lackluster group of HC options... who the heck is an exciting hire??

I’m jealous Luckynumber I think McDaniels will be Mcvay 2.0. As a jets fan I’ve been wanting an offensive Minded coach forever.

I’m feeling much better about my Marlon Mack share also

I'm excited for his valve like chance to work with Luck. I think we'll see a focus on the o-line more now in the draft.

No one admits it, but we actually have been focusing heavily on drafting OL. If anything, we should give the O-Line a look in free agency

Is it really a better situation than Tennessee? Luck > Mariota, but do the rest of their respective teams' talent and Luck's injury questions make up for the gap between the two QBs?

Football Outsiders has Indy ranked #18 in run blocking & dead last at pass blocking. Maybe better coaching up of draftees is also needed.

McDaniels is pretty highly thought of amongst NE fans. He doesn't script as well as Weis did, but he's much more creative. I think Luck will benefit, for sure. IF he's matured since his Denver stint, he will be a good hire. I think he tried to "prove" too much too soon back then, and Tebow completely destroyed any chance he had of ever taking off as a coach (which was McDaniels' fault to begin with).

I think it’s probably the most exciting thing to happen for the Colts this offseason. I think McD has a ton of potential, but will the organization give him the players he needs to succeed.

Indy has an early pick, which means McDaniels will have more ammo to bring his own guys to put alongside Hilton (who is better than any receiver in Ten) and Luck. Further, Adams has been impatient with coaching since Fisher left. This whole mess with Mularkey can't sit well with guys that have options and Indy just hung on to Pagano way longer than they should have. They're also coming off a garbage season and probably have lower expectations going into 2018. Tennessee just fired their coach for losing in the playoffs.

I agree the o line is so much better than what they have in tn , the rb is so much better than what the have in tn , the leadership is pretty equal both are clueless so that is equal , the def blows much more than Indy def .. so yes the sistuation is much better in Indy ..lol

Presently tn has a ton more talent and Mularkey would still be here if he had be willing to do something with the oc is the reports down here ...McDaniels imho will do a good job either place does have a stellar qb to start just don’t let him get all the groceries as he has sometimes picks out rotten fruit ... Tebow had heart and talent just not a qb.. McDaniel has learn from the past and will be good very creative ...
