LeVeon Bell considering retiring

Postby nathanq42 » Thu Jan 11, 2018 3:11 pm

Le'Veon Bell would consider sitting out, retiring if franchise tagged again
https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/1465405

He really wants a nice contract, threatening to sit for 18 and that will likely lead to retirement.

I highly doubt he retires. Probably a ploy by his agent to get a better deal. I could see him walk and sign with a different team though.

He's not the first player to make this threat.

Surely posturing. But it's always something with this guy. Is there any player that has such a combo of on field brilliance and off field shenanigans?

Well, at least he has his rap career to fall back on.

The fantasy community would be in quite the uproar if he actually stuck to his guns and sat out/retired. So many championship rosters would be scrambling for a new starting RB. Would you sell him for pennies on the dollar to try and recoup value while he still has some? Would you hold on for a lost season and hope he comes back in 2019?

If he sits I'd 100% hold him, if people held Josh Gordon this long or Calvin for a year or two after he retired, LeVeon Bell at 28 should be held for a few years into retirement

Haha the mods would be better off deleting this thread because it's irrelevant to fantasy... Bell isn't retiring. ;)

I usually look at it if a guy has an issue with $10mil+, even in the short term, he cannot afford to retire (in his mind, or bad with money). A lot of posturing of course and in reality he probably could retire and be financially stable (assumption somewhat). Since I can easily out-rap him even after I have downed a liter of Jack Daniels, there is no way that is even an option. Though, with rap nowadays, his skills are really not that far off, and he is god awful. I would hold and am in the once place I have him, which is a total rebuild. Even with a decent demand on him, the offers I get make no sense.

People thought a 31 year old Lynch was still worth a 1st...so yes, Bell would still be a hold if he did sit.

I could honestly see the Steelers letting him walk if they can't agree on money.

Lynch was making 10-12 with the Hawks I think. Ray rice made good money in '13.

Seems like coaching and QB play is #1 priority, then a all star defense is a close second
