I feel history has shown us that, for many QBs, that a full year of acclimatization is needed for them to fully get immersed in a new offensive scheme - see Matt Ryan 2016 - so for me it will really depend on where he lands, and how quickly.

IE if he is traded in August to a team using a non West Coast offense then thats a bigger adjustment than if he goes in March to a team using a similar scheme as to what the Chiefs used and he has the full off-season to prepare.

One things for sure - Alex Smith hasnt thrown double digit picks in years - so if your scoring system uses -2 or -3 rather than -1 he's a better buy low there.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

If anything, I'd say Smith is a sell, not a buy. He's likely going to be on a new team, and this season was by far his best fantasy year. I think any other team is a downgrade from his current situation, and Smith is due for massive regression without Tyreek Hill turning medium-depth passes into long TDs with his speed and YAC.

I'll be looking to sell my one Alex Smith share in a Superflex league for any 1st or equivalent I can find. He's a game manager at his core. Plus, I don't really need him anymore either (hopefully).

Should qualify these posts with mention of league size. If you're talking 10 team superflex like in your sig, not only is a first a way higher pick, starting QBs aren't nearly as scare as a 16 team equivalent superflex.

This. In a 10 Team SF, I don't think you can get a first for him. You probably could mid-season, but not right now. In a 10 team **2QB** or 12+ SF, then yeah, I would actually pay a late 1st for him. Starting QBs are scarce and positional advantage is more important. Heck, If I'm was a contender this year and going forward (meaning, was dominant, and not got in the playoffs due to one player and/or luck), I would prefer to have him as my QB4 (there is always injuries and bye-weeks) than let my competition have him as QB2-3, and would gladly pay my late first.

I bought high (my Jameis & 3rd rd in dynasty league) for playoffs push.

Won us most points $$$ with monster week 13 but bounced us week 14 with no TD . Probably has next to no trade value going into the off-season. Be lucky to get the 3rd back.

Still I'd be happy with him in Clev , Den , Minn (if they all leave as FA ) or Wash (if Cousins leaves) for next year. To trade for him as he stands in limbo today I would go 3rd tops.

Things will obviously change so this isn't exact, but with things in place the way they are right now, some of these landing spots could be interesting for 2QB/SuperFlex owners:

Alex Smith - Jacksonville - Elite DEF, Leonard Fournette, Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Dede Westbrook, TJ Yeldon

Alex Smith - Cleveland - Josh Gordon, Corey Coleman, David Njoku, (?Saquon Barkley?), Duke Johnson, Isaiah Crowell

Alex Smith - Arizona - David Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown

Alex Smith - Denver - Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, CJ Anderson (doubt he's felt within the division)

Alex Smith - NYJ - Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Roby Anderson, ehh

Alex Smith - Miami - Jarvis Landry, Devante Parker

Alex Smith - NYG - Odell Beckham Jr, Brandon Marshall, Evan Engram, Sterling Sheppard, (?Saquon Barkley?)

Jacksonville, Cleveland, Arizona, Denver, and NYG would have me interested as a QB2/QB3 for my roster. Cleveland would all of a sudden look really exciting on paper if they signed Alex Smith and drafted Saquon Barkley (or at least have potential)

Maybe I'm too low on Alex Smith. Maybe not.

But if I were looking to buy a QB on the cheap I'd probably look to grab Tannehill (and I'm not a fan) over Smith because he's probably cheaper to add and I don't think there's a tremendous gap in their ability/talent level. Smith is competent, but not special. Much like Tannehill. This is regardless of where either player ends up moving forward.

And Tannehill is younger.

Weird.

Everybody was being civil, and I didn't see any sort of dust-up. Some sort of shenanigans afoot. Perhaps a mod will enlighten us?

I dunno if Smith’s value goes up, goes down or stays the same. I speak mostly from the superflex or 2QB league values. But you got to love the job security that the contract extension provides. Washington does have some weapons too.
