overhyped: Calvin Ridley. 23 year old slot receivers with underwhelming production do not deserve to be top 15 nfl draft picks

underlooked: DJ Moore and Michael Gallup. Both extremely productive at young ages with above average athleticism.

But considering Alabama only passed for roughly 2500 passing yards on the season and Ridley had over 900 receiving yards, you can see why his numbers may look 'underwhelming' but in reality he owns over 35% of the teams receiving yards which is well above average and is one of the biggest correlations with NFL success. For reference, the 35% of teams receiving yards is right around the 70th percentile for college dominator.

But I do agree with age being a concern.

Last I checked, age doesn’t correlate with success, but leaving before you exhaust your eligibility does.

Anybody have any data on how age of a prospect when they’re drafted correlates with success?

Yes, it actually does. Check out one of the more recent DLF articles. They break it down. And 23 yo WRs are a non-no according to it.

How come I haven't heard anything about this Marquez Valdez-Scantling fella that ran a 4.37? Looked at some of his tape and he reminds me of Martavis.

You probably haven't heard much about him because hes almost 24 years old and didn't put up huge numbers ever in college. He is a good late round flier but I have to do some more research before I can decide if he's a one trick pony or if he has some game that can translate to the NFL.

He's (Chark) more of a Robby Anderson or Martavis Bryant if he hits.

I was going to mention this as well. Apparently his other metrics have scouts questioning his overall athleticism. But he looked great running routes, so I don't see this as taking him completely out of the draft.

^^ Yeah, he has some really good buzz right now. Definitely deserves to be picked somewhere and it wouldn't surprise me if he jumps up a few rounds from where he is projected.
