Although I do think buying Cousins and drafting Barkley then (with Gordon back their WRs are ok) a defensive player at 4 would be an A+ off season for them

Adding another dynamic pass rusher on the other side would do wonders for that defense. Think Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. Taking the best safety in the draft wouldn't be a bad way to go either.

You can never have too many good edge rushers. If they had to split snaps between Ogbah & Chubb at the other DE spot, they'd love to have that problem.

I agree with this. Couisns Barkley Chubb is A+ but its the Browns they'll do the opposite

If they were smart they'd take Minkah Fitzpatrick at 4, stick him at FS, and let Peppers play close to the LOS. I have no idea why they had Peppers playing centerfield this last year, unless they literally just saw the season as a practice year?

Inept. It has nothing to do with "ruining young QB talents". They have continuously passed on the top QBs and selected ones destined to fail regardless of landing spot. Kizer is just another in a long line of this kind of mistake.

For the vast majority of their QBs, I tend to agree with you. But Kizer is QB with the physical tools teams look for. He is also very young, which isn’t helping him right now, but if a team gave him time to sit on the bench and learn, I think he could easily grow into the role of an average NFL QB.

Yeah I suppose it all depends on what "school of thought" you are from and what you want from your QB right away.

I think there are plenty of examples of success for either - ie QBs who were thrown into the fire and succeeded and QBs who were groomed and became starters.

I believe you have 5 types

QBs who succeeded right away
QBs who succeeded after some development
QBs who become journeymen
QBs who would have succeeded in different environments
QBs who would have succeeded except for bad circumstances / health / lack of work ethic

So as to Kizer specifically, whether or not he could have succeeded right away in a different environment, or if he had had a full year or more to groom - we'll likely not know. Would say a Mahomes have done what Kizer did if he had been taken by the Browns in the 1st instead of the Chiefs - impossible to say but plenty fun to speculate ...

The pick of kizer was never great idea, Because of the browns image they can't take a project guy who might develop in a few years, they need to hit on a high pick or trade/sign a free agency like cousins. The media would never let the browns spend time developing a QB, I guarantee they have articles already written about the new QB being bust. All they need is a name and it'll print after game 1 if he struggles.

Saquon may very well not last until 4, but yes they should have no problem getting an elite prospect at 4 - no matter whether it's Saquon, or Nelson, Chubb, or Minkah.

I agree this should be hard for Brown's to screw, nothing but elite prospect 1-4. Obviously Rosen/Darnold/No4 pick could bust but it still wouldn't be a franchise mistake. Just unlucky

So does dorsey's history in KC portend what happens in Cleveland long history of drafting defense/Oline early mean he ignores the offensive skill positions early. Until mahomes deal after which he was soon gone from KC (still quite odd timing) .... the highest skill position pick during his time in KC travis kelce with 1st pick of 3rd round (63) in 2013.
Does that mean he goes defense /oline heavy early and continue to ignore the qb position or does he trade for alex smith pound the defense and try to develop kizer . Was the relationship so frayed in KC trading for smith is out of the ?
