Rank these RBs

Postby waynesworld1234 » Thu Dec 28, 2017 1:42 pm

I’m trying to get a sense for the value of the 1.1 pick in this years draft. How would you rate the following RBs IF they all came out of the draft today

Todd Gurley
Ezekiel Elliott
Leonard Fournette
Saquon Barkley

In the order that you presented. Barkley could swap with Fournette, depending on landing spot.
12 TEAM SUPERFLEX, TE Premium, 25 man rosters
QB - | Rodgers | Herbert | Mills
RB - CMC | Chubb | Dobbins | Keaontay Ingram
WR - McLaurin | Deebo | Waddle | Gabriel Davis | Elijah Moore | Mooney | C Ridley | Jameson Williams | Pickens | Alec Pierce | Wan'dale Robinson | Justyn Ross | B Edwards
TE - M Andrews | Friermuth

2023 Picks: 1st round(2), 2nd round(2), 3rd round (2)

What do you like about Barkley at the college level that puts him notably ahead of the others?

I don't think this is possible, at least not objectively. You can say not to account for NFL production but it's been 3 years since anyone thought of Gurley purely as a prospect and he just won a bunch of people championships. Trying to ignore NFL production produces a different kind of recency bias, everyone is just now currently studying Barkley inside and out and Fournette was just last year. But as I said earlier; Gurley came out 3 years ago, and I am not confident people can truly remember their honest assessments of him without factoring what we've seen in the NFL.

So given the qualifications about the biases I know are going on in my head I'd say

Barkley
Zeke
Fournette
Gurley
Team: Hounds of Justice - Year 5
12 Team - 35 Man roster .5 PPR Dynasty IDP (1QB|2WR|2RB|1TE|2Flex|2DL|2LB|2DB|1Flex)

As college prospects coming out my thought is:
Barkley - size/speed, make you miss ability, 3-downs
Zeke - all-around back with pass block ability to boot
Gurley - questioned his ‘make-you-miss’ ability and had ACL injury
Fournette - health issues + pass catch uncertainty

Based on current state, I’d lean:
Gurley - fantasy MVP season. Good coach.
Zeke - Proven, but suspension risk
Barkley - unproven and uncertain destination
Fournette - sledgehammer who’s style makes me worry about longevity

Zeke - maybe not as talented athlete as Gurley or Barkley or even Fournette, but system and fit ideal 3 down back
Gurley - McVay using him to max potential but year 2 after a huge volume season and run in playoffs may lead to break down and can likely only regress from numbers this year
Barkley - more based on uncertainty in landing spot. could be ideal or could be dumpster fire
Fournette - supreme talent and if fully healthy would likely be #1 or #2, but just seems to keep getting dinged up in NFL and when at LSU

Gurley's been my favorite all along.
Fournette is easily on the bottom for me.
Probably Barkley second because of knucklehead factor with Zeke.

On skill alone this is the order I have them. I might even put LF above Zeke.
