Looks like any QB not good enough to go top dozen is a reach and only made first rd due to position bias. Otherwise teams will pay to move up nearer the top . Of course you can find outlier here & there but the odds are against you spending a late first and doing any better than taking a guy outside the first rd.

2015 - 2 (1, 2) - Winston, Mariota
2014 - 3 (3, 22, 32) - Bortles, Manziel, Bridgewater
2013 - 1 (16) - EJ Manuel
2012 - 4 (1, 2, 8, 22) - Luck, RGIII, Tannehill, Weeden
2011 - 4 (1, 8, 10, 12) - Newton, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder

2009 - 3 (1, 5, 17) - Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman
2008 - 2 (3, 18) - Ryan, Flacco
2007 - 2 (1, 22) - Russell, Quinn
2006 - 3 (3, 10, 11) - Young, Leinart, Cutler

2004 - 4 (1, 4, 11, 22) - Eli Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Losman
2003 - 4 (1, 7, 19, 22) - Palmer, Leftwich, Boller, Grossman
2002 - 3 (1, 3, 32) - Carr, Harrington, Ramsey
2001 - 1 (1) - Vick*
2000 - 1 (18) - Pennington
1999 - 5 (1, 2, 3, 11, 12) - Couch, McNabb, Akili Smith, Culpepper, Cade McNown
1998 - 2 (1, 2) - Peyton Manning, Leaf

Will be interesting to see if this is the first time in almost 20 years that 5 QBs go in the 1st round, or if it is more likely to be similar to one of the several 4 QB drafts

* - Brees was a 2nd round pick
Except for the 2004 1st round, that's not a lot of multiple hits. I'm not counting 2016 and 2017, as the jury is still out. And 2015 could still go one way or another...

Think I will be trading for QBs, not drafting them with my 1sts in my Superflex.

Looks like only one QB1 came out of the 2nd half of the 1st round during this period, namely Aaron Roders at 1.24.

when you look at arrylT's list , which I didn't double check but I assume is accurate the entire list is 8-6 in super bowls by my tally. Several more guys made it as far as the conference championship game and lost . Yet the pats are going to their 8th super bowl and the highest they have drafted a qb in those 20 years is 62nd overall (jimmy G) and it shows you very plainly , while the pats run is amazing and belichick is a genius with few peers in the annals of coaching /preparation - that sheer dumb luck will best skill in the NFL draft & for dynasty managers as well .
What we cannot and will never know for certain is if brady (picked 199th) were drafted by that era's misfit saints or the browns how it would have all turned out ? Would he still have rosen to his current heights or would he be just a footnote in NFL history ? would the pats still be where they are or would they be the houston texans working on their 6th head coach since 2001 - belichick is 55-63 after all without brady ! with 2 winning seasons in 6 tries !
The countless hours most serious dynasty players spend on their hobby/vocation pales in comparison to what NFL teams have at their disposal. The NFL scouts & front offices fail on an enormous scale when evaluating qbs as illustrated by the list , so attempting to best the system is folly.

Don't waste valuable draft capital and time scouting qbs - trade for them and overpay if you must for proven commodities. The best part is in my little superflex experience you won't have to seriously overpay when I see draft advice for superflex league advocate taking guys like paxton lynch in the 1st a couple years ago. This year it will be mason rudolph if he gets drafted early someone will beg you for the pick to take him before he becomes a glaring bust - do yourself a favor and accept before that manager comes to his senses .

also omitted when brady was drafted, the pats already had a 28 year old franchise qb w/ a 58 -47 career record w/ 3 pro bowls and a passing yards title in hand . In 2009 the colts drafted curtis painter 201st - what if brady turned out to be curtis painter would the steelers have 8 or 9 super bowls would peyton have won 5 or 6 super bowls ? would philly rivers have a couple ? Would belichick be the head coach at navy or a crusty grumpy career D- coordinator after failing twice as a head coach ?
Jake delhomme could be a super bowl winner as would donovan mcnabb ! russ would have 2 ? matt ryan also has 1 kurt warner would have 2 and stayed with the rams for his whole career ? How many legacies would be changed !
Literally the fabric of NFL history was altered by complete dumb luck - So draft away and "outsmart" the experts at your own peril.

I believe the list is accurate. Here is a more complete list of all QBs drafted going all the way back to 1936. Did you know the last year a QB wasnt taken in the 1st round was 1996? That 1996 class is likely the worst QB class of all time

I think Lamar Jackson is fool's gold in this class...I doubt I will be drafting him because everyone will take him before me. I don't think he is even as good as Mariota and jury is still out on him for me. Potential but 3 years in and last year he looked like a rookie at times still.

Rosen Darnold are probably top 2 then I think NFL won't be able to help themselves and Allen will sneak in ahead of Mayfield...

I think Allen is the QB I want from this draft and he should be the best value for the upside.

I like Rosen and Darnold but they are surrounded by 4 and 5 star recruits. Mayfield may end up as the best QB from this class but the physical attributes will get him snubbed on draft day I think

I doubt UCLA has a lot of 4 and 5 star recruits on their team...maybe starting in 2019 once Chip Kelly gets his recruits. I think what Rosen did with the talent surrounding him is more impressive than any of the other QBs coming out this year.
