Is there an AJG or Julio in the 2018 class?

Postby joeday » Tue Dec 19, 2017 4:57 pm

In one of my leagues I traded for a teams 1st round pick. Going into the season it was assumed it would be a later pick but injuries and suspensions put him at 1.3. I was wondering who the top 3 guys are in the 2018 class and are they actually good or is the pick worth more to sell it? I know it's way early but I don't watch much college and enjoy the conversation lol

I think people thought Courtland Sutton might be that but he had a down year.

I'm sure at some point someone will fly up the draft boards and be viewed as the next stud. I'd hang onto that pick as it will only go up in value.

Physically, Courtland Sutton is the closest thing. But, that's not necessarily saying anything.

Overall, I think this is a weak WR group.

i agree with Cameron, no one with the sure thing skills of those two coming out. Sutton is the guy that has the potential big alpha profile and a lot of guys who seem suited as good number 2s.

Julio and Green were both clear cut 5 star recruits who broke out as freshman at big schools and went on to dominate in the SEC (despite their numbers being SEC'd). We have nothing close to that in this class.

We might have a guy sneak into the top 5 like Davis did last year, but the Green/Julio class was ABSOLUTELY LOADED - and no WR from this class would sniff top 10 in it.

I think it's a hard sell right now. I don't think anyone is in a hurry to pay full price for the 1.03 in this class, at the moment. I think that's likely to change at some point, justified or not. I'd hold unless or until the buzz really starts building around a 3rd prospect.

If I recall correctly, both Julio and AJG felt like studs at the time, coming from big time schools. They had size, measurables, pedigree, and production. This years class does not have one of those.

Sutton has the many of those qualities, but is at a lower level of competition and not nearly the β€˜sure’ prospects those guys felt like. He could gain some steam within the draft community come Combine time though.

No one else comes to mind, as Ridley is a different type of prospect and older than most will like. I have a tough time gauging him as a player and need to watch more, and account for that offense and Hurts

I like Ridley quite a bit but as others have said, the answer at this time is a resounding no. If Sutton blows up the combine, maybe he gets into the top 10 and has similar hype to Davis but yeah... it's not looking like a great crop of WRs right now.

Yea, if WR is your goal, try trading the pick for a young WR prospect closer to the draft if there isn't one you like...

Personally I am thinking I have a small chance at Guice there, if not I probably either trade back if I can get value. If not select top rb and then at 6 Andrews has been looking like the only worth while TE in the class.

There are a few WR to keep an eye on, but nobody that is carrying that type of hype

No. There is an AJ Green, but he's a sophomore defensive back for Oklahoma State. Couldn't find any Julios.
