what ever he's classified as, WR or RB, I think he'll be used a lot. my guess, they convert him back to WR and let Cobb go. He'll play the slot/gadget/part time RB role and will still have fantasy value.

Would tend to agree with that. seems like everything points to Ty back to WR and no Cobb.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy suggested Ty Montgomery could become more of a "hybrid" receiver-running back in 2018.

Perfect scenario for Montgomery; Randall Cobb is cut and Montgomery takes over the slot, while also being the third RB on the depth chart. Earning him the highly coveted dual RB/WR fantasy status.

I saw a mock with Anthony Miller to the Pack. I like that pairing. Though that could adversely affect Ty's production/role.

Not all sites (nor very many I don't think) support players as having multiple positions. I can only speak for myself, but I am still not seeing the appeal. I didn't believe he fit the role of a starting back and 2017 bore that out. I also don't think he is a starting caliber receiver either and would be quite surprised if the Packers go into 2018 listing him as such. I do think they will play him some in both roles, I am just not sure he could ever be used with any confidence in a fantasy lineup.

This is the best TyMo owners could hope for, he's going to have a role and right now we can play him from the RB position. My hope is a slot WR that I can plug into a RB slot when need be.

That'd be great in best ball, but it's probably be a nightmare picking which weeks to start him in normal formats, because my guess is he'd be a boom-or-bust flex play at best. I value Montgomery as a late 2nd mostly because he still has high-end RB2 upside in the event of an injury to Aaron Jones and/or Jamaal Williams.

TyMo, Curtis Samuel, CMC, Cohen, Tyreek they're all kinda in the same offensive mold of Hybrid. Maybe five years from now the line between RB and WR will be so blurred that we only have QB and FLEX spots.

One owner shot down my trade offers over the past week citing the ADP here. I'm confused why Ty Montgomery is valued so high. Here, he's the 29th RB, ahead of Alex Collins. In a trade calculator I've been using for this guy, Montgomery has a value around 1.10. I've seen comments here he holds mid 2nd value.

I'm struggling to put him much above James White. What am I missing?

Get rid of the trade calculator. He's worth no where near 1.10 and, quite frankly, no where near the 2.10 either.

MontrealBen wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2017 6:01 am If someone is willing to offer a 2nd, take it. If not, there's not much you can do but hold tight and see what happens. If there's a sell window in the offseason, though, don't miss it. I have a hard time envisioning him being the lead back in any committee there. He had 3 usable games from the 8 he played, and Williams and Jones have both clearly outperformed him when they've had lead back duties.

Thinking out loud, though -- Adams is a free agent. If he decides to walk, what's more likely: an Allison (or other WR) promotion, a draft pick getting a starting gig, a FA signing, or TyMont moving back to WR with Cobb and Jordy? I kinda think the last option is the most likely, in which case he regains some value (and, again, I'd be looking to sell).
I missed that sell-high window last year when I was getting offered late firsts/early seconds. Not only will he get hurt if he is used as an every down back, he has that terrible sickle cell trait. No thanks, and I am an owner.

Normally I wouldn't use one, except for this guy. At the very least I can use his reliance on ADP to gauge a trade, versus people throwing darts blindly while drunk.

He came sniffing around Montgomery. I want to leverage his ADP, but also want to make certain I'm not missing the boat here. He seems ranked very high. Is he Alex Collins-ish, or more like James White? Is he a late 4th a late change?

Montgomery is one of those guys who was going as early as the late 3rd in startups last year, and is now considered "worthless" by the overall dynasty in that case. If you want to sell him, wait until he gets back on the field, has a good game, and his value evens out a bit more. I doubt he'll ever be worth what he was last offseason, but he should easily be worth more than a 4th.
