How large are typical Dynasty Rosters (includes Poll)?
How large are typical Dynasty Rosters (includes Poll)?
This year I joined a 12 team standard dynasty League with an 18 player roster and no injured reserve. I found out prior to week 13 that our rosters are frozen at noon on week 13 per a league vote many years ago as a majority wanted playoff teams to compete with their regular season roster. We have a 5 round rookie draft in late August with a cut-down to 18 players before week 7. I'm trying to find out what is typical in Dynasty, especially as it relates to roster size. The more I hear people, the more I realize that 18 is very small.

I'm in: (1) a 12-team offense only league with 25 spots (plus 3 IR)
(2) a 10-team full IDP league with 40 spots (plus 4 IR)
(3) a 12-team full IDP league with 35 spots (plus 3 IR)
I would guess that most leagues will be 25+ roster spots.

22 is the smallest I've ever been in with 12 teams but we also had 2 taxi spots...early on it expanded to 25+2.

Most rookies aren't even worth rostering unless you have at least 23-24 roster spots. Otherwise 3rd, 4th, and 5th round rookie picks are basically worthless...

My league is 24 spots with 2 IR slots. Only 14 Keepers so we have a 10 round draft which is mostly rookies in the 1st but mostly redrafting vets that werent able to be kept. A lot of the Deep players that are talked about on here are on waivers since it makes no sense to stash someone that wont be a keeper anyhow
Re: How large are typical Dynasty Rosters (includes Poll)?
12 team, 21 roster spots. Gotta be very selective.
Re: How large are typical Dynasty Rosters (includes Poll)?
Yes, with our 18 player limit I drafted Cooper Kupp in the 3rd round and had to cut him at cut down week..boy did I not want to do that but there was no room, especially after A Rodgers went down and Hundley laid an egg for 3 weeks.WhatWouldDitkaDo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 9:58 am Most rookies aren't even worth rostering unless you have at least 23-24 roster spots. You don't mention how many starting roster spots your league has. That affects how deep your benches are. I am in a keeper league with 15 starting spots (7 are IDPs) and only 7 bench spots. We just added an IR spot this year but it still seems extremely cramped. So even though that is 22 roster spots it feels like not nearly that many. Another of my dynasty leagues starts 10 with 10 bench spots and it seems like good players are always being dropped. I favor at least 30 in a 12 team league. A larger league probably needs less if you want an active free agency, though I say bigger is better.

Re: How large are typical Dynasty Rosters (includes Poll)?
10x25. No taxi, no IR. 9 starters. No K or Def. Don’t think I’d ever play with as little as 18 roster spots. How could any team stash players for more than a year unless in total rebuild? Much of the fun for me is finding guys deeper in the draft that you truly believe in, and having them hit (usually not immediately). There is no room for this with such few roster spots if you’re at all competing. I would say 22 at minimum.
Re: How large are typical Dynasty Rosters (includes Poll)?
My league only has 17 active spots, and at least four of them have to be 1st or 2nd year players. We start eight players and don’t use K or D/ST. Each team gets one IR slot and one taxi slot with the option to buy an extra one of each. So the maximum number of players we can hold is 21.
We also expand rosters to 23 active players in the offseason to accommodate incoming draft picks and players coming off of IR. Cut back down to 17 active before kickoff of week 1.
Having 25-player rosters seems ridiculous to me. The waiver wire has to be a barren wasteland in a league like that. But 18 seems really shallow if you’re playing with kickers and D/STs.

League 1: 11 starting, 19 bench, 3 IR
League 2: 14 starting, 16 bench, 3 IR
I could not imagine less than 30 tbh.
Bench should always be larger than starting lineup in my opinion.

I am only in 1 league. 10 team, IDP, start 17 players each week (QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, Flex, K, 2DL, 3LB, 2DB, Def Flex). 47 man rosters + 5 IR spots.

Our league is 10 team 60 player with idp.
Re: How large are typical Dynasty Rosters (includes Poll)?
I can't imagine a league with under 24 roster spots. Part of what's fun with dynasty is finding those sleepers and stashing them on your roster till they breakout.
