I have one 16 team equivalent that 8 from each conference make it. Otherwise, all my other leagues (from 12-18 team equivalents) 6 teams make the playoffs. However, in the 18 team league I commish, there is talk of voting to have 8 teams make it rather than the 6 as is.

I like 6 because it gives more of a realistic feel - 4 division champs and 2 wildcards - two top division champs get first round bye.

This is what we do for our 16 team. Wildcards are given to the 2 top scoring, non-division winners. Not a fan of 50% of the field making the playoffs.

I like 4 only. Value on the season so only the strongest make it and a weaker side doesn't get lucky.

Having said that, I was second in PF and finished 8-5 in fifth spot in my 14-team league - the only team with a winning record not to make the post season, so I'd have been in favour of 6 teams making it this year ;). If you're in really big leagues, then maybe more, but 4 teams feels about right to me, up to and including 14 team leagues. Otherwise whats the point of the regular season?

We do the top 5 out of 12. You get two weeks of points (Week 14 and 15). The top 2 in cumulative points play in the super bowl and the next 2 teams play for third place, with the scores being reset to 0-0. The fifth place finisher gets the week off to contemplate where it all went wrong.
