Are you serious? This dude just worked is freaking tail off to win the job, behind the worst Oline in football, trying to make a name for himself so he can earn a paycheck. Just to have quite possibly his career end on a single play. Hes a late rnd pick, guys like this rarely get another shot. The only thing that stinks like poo is your keyboard for writing that. Show some respect.

Unlikely he is the guy, but if he comes back in time for play offs (if the hawks make it) he might be able to prove he can still do it.

If not I feel like he will get another shot at least in mini camp or something because Carroll loves the kid, and IMO he earned it

I don't think so.
Feels a lot like the Rawls storyline. It could have a different ending, but Seattle signing Lacy this offseason showed they wanted a deeper backfield. Depending on how Carson comes back (and if he can return from IR for the playoffs?) we'll see. But with both Lacy and Rawls being FA's next offseason, I'd expect Seattle's backfield to look a lot different heading into 2018. I doubt either player is retained by the team unless one or the other goes on an absolute tear to finish this season. That doesn't appear likely at this point.

Carson and Prosise will be in camp next year, but they will face competition for touches and like Giles I believe Seattle's starting running back for 2018 probably isn't on the roster at this point.

Chris Carson, 2018

Postby whodunnit » Wed Dec 06, 2017 8:14 am

Anything here? An owner just dropped him last week and I picked him up on waivers figuring, why not? I know there's probably a thread on him somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Is he worth holding going forward and does he potentially grab the starting job there next year?

Rawls and Carson owner here - the answer is no one has a clue. He is worth a stash for sure but SEA burns thru RBs faster than any other team I can think of.

I have him in a couple leagues. Definitely holding. I don't see SEA drafting an RB early, there are other deficiencies to address first. He looked good in limited action and the coaches love him. I think he gets first crack at the starting job.

Hold if you don't have better options on waivers, which you probably don't. Opportunity is everything for RB's. RB's, even mediocre ones, can produce in a good situation and can produce a lot in a great situation. I'm not saying Carson is mediocre, but RB's don't need to be super talented to produce for fantasy purposes.

At this point most could agree that the replacements of Carson have kept his seat warm for 2018.

No way to know whether or not a RB is drafted in the first two days of the draft but until then, imo, he has trade value simply because no one has played up to his level, much less better, in his absence. Assuming SEA doesn't draft a RB early then it'd only make sense that he'd get an opportunity to compete for the starting job next year. Also, maybe he comes back for the actual NFL playoffs and makes some noise, then the narrative is completely different.

Definitely worth holding atm assuming you have a league of at least 12 teams. Under 12 teams I'm not sure I'd keep him.

Carson, Davis, and Prosise will be in camp in 2018 with whomever Seattle adds at the position. I don't see them going the FA route again, and also don't expect they'll draft RB with any sort of early round pick considering their other needs. It also appears that they really like both Carson and Davis. Prosise will only be back since he's still under his inexpensive rookie deal but the team is becoming frustrated with him and his inability to get on the field. Carson certainly has a chance to claim the top spot on the RB depth chart, but it will be an open competition.

Rawls and Lacy are gone after 2017. It doesn't look like the Hawks are at all interested in signing either player to a new deal. I'd hold Carson just to see how it shakes out. He might even be activated later this season according to recent reports, so you could get an additional look at him in 2017 to evaluate what he offers.

Carson performed better than the rest of the RBs on their roster right now. Draft and FA could change that but I think Carson has a legit shot to start next year

That answer is - No one really knows and we'd all be speculating. Based off what we've seen from him, he has potential. He is a stash at this point and a stash with some upside if you have the roster space.

I'd say no one has really stepped up, so his main competition will be whoever they draft in 2018 .. They really liked him and felt he could be the guy .. He's worth adding for free, but as many others I wouldn't give up any capital to acquire him ..

IMO, Seattle isn't interested in Lacy, they had him inactive again today. My prediction for 2018 is that Seattle has bigger needs than a RB during the draft. They will probably grab a RB with a late pick or an undrafted player. As such, I feel that things will shake out with Lacy gone, Carson and Prosise in a RBBC, and Davis as the 3rd RB. So yes, I believe that Carson will have a role in 2018.
