Absolutely not collusion, and completely above board.
I've seen this done in leagues, and it's usually done between two friends who figure a split guarantees both parties earn more money just for making the title game than they would for finishing second. It's a sort of "no-lose" proposition allowing an equal split of the winnings. If it's an $800/$300 split, better to both walk away with $550 and enjoy a stress-free championship than risk ending up on the short end of the stick.
Also, loved that story Friction!

I agree. Nothing to see here.

I’ve done it a couple times, 1st place is $1,000 and 2nd is $150. Agreed to a $650/$500 split- lost both times so I came our $800 ahead

Re: Splitting the pot
I have seen it argued before that splitting the pot shouldn't be allowed, but for the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would care.
I also get superstitious when it comes to Fantasy, so if anyone ever proposes it, I always accept. If I decline I know I am going to lose

I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Re: Splitting the pot
Of course I kept the profits from winning. He actually acted like a chick and did not contact me for a few weeks or so (generally a friend I talked to on a weekly basis, if not more). We even had a side bet on out matchup that Larry Johnson would score more than Tomlinson, which he said would NEVER happen. It did, they were both on the wrong side of their peaks. I think it was his last year on San Diego maybe. I know they were both around the RB2/Flex range. I have a great memory regardless, but this stuck in my head since it pushed me, amongst other things, to not mix fantasy football and friendships. He did not pay the side bet, to no surprise. He even got mad I did not pick up his share when I grabbed mine from the Commish. Not that he asked me to in advance.Bot101 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 4:40 amIve gotta ask, what did your buddy do afterwards?Friction wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 10:06 am My last year being in a "buddies" league a friend and I agreed to split the pot 50/50 if we made it.
