Superflex Rookie Drafts

Postby bsp27 » Tue Dec 05, 2017 11:26 pm

Where do people see quarterbacks being taken in superflex/2qb rookie drafts? Should Josh Rosen (or whoever your qb 1 is) be taken right after Barkley and Guice, or after Chubb, Love, and Jones?

I'm sorry to say that every league is different in this aspect. It largely depends upon specific scoring and the size of your league and your bench and what QBs if any are free agents. The best answer I can give you is to check last year's rookie draft in your specific league and see where Watson, Mahomes, and Trubisky went. Typically they wouldn't go top-3, but it depends on the league.

Realistically, there should probably be at least 1 QB taken in the first of a 2QB/SF league. Now it just depends on what teams are picking, I've seen Jameis go 1.02 due to need and Watson go 2.02 because no one wanted him.

I think the sweet spot for taking a QB, if you need one, starts somewhere at or after 1.06/1.07.

Obviously prospects like Luck would go even before Barkley, but there are no superstar QBs in the 2018 class. It's too early to say, but my guess would be Rosen and Mayfield would start getting taken around 1.05 in superflex.

I think in this year's draft you'll see QB's go as high as #2. Depending on the owner's need and the size of the league of course. All depends on the NFL draft, but assuming 3-4 QB's go 1st round, then with this year's kind of lackluster class we'll see all the QB's go top 12 in rookie drafts.

My expectation at this point, not knowing pre-draft buildup (ie. Player hype), draft location (1st overall vs 3rd round prospect), or team destination (Browns vs Packers) would probably be 2-5 overall, depending on team need. I think Rosen will warrant that type of draft slot, and depending what people feel about the other prospects (will Darnold declare?) could increase the appeal of the ‘safest’ option. I think Guice will get most people there, but positional need will play a factor as always too. I see the argument against the WRs, so #3 seems more realistic though.

Where the other guys slot in after that is harder to gauge, with a lot left to play out. In the late 1st you will have options though.

From my experience in 2QB, most of ours go in the 2nd round. Not pure dynasty though as only 14 are kept so that makes a bit of a difference and Id say with a class like this one maybe 1 or 2 go in first round (depends on landing spots)

In my experience running a 16 team superflex and a 16 team start 2QB...QBs tend to go early. Depends on the AB crop of course...but generally it is tough to acquire multiple solid QBs (or even multiple starting QBs) in these. Generally teams that end up with early picks do so because they don’t have a solid second QB. These teams often reach for QBs early in the rookie draft.

Last year, I took watson and mahomes at 6-7, but I didn’t have solid starters. I’d argue watson would go 1.1 in a redraft and top 3 for sure. I pick 3rd this year and honestly might go Qb if Guice isn’t there.

Tsunami hit the nail on the head that it differs per league.
But to give some context, last 2 years for my rookie drafts:

2017: Watson went 1.11, Mahomes went 2.08, Trubisky went 2.12
2016: Went went 1.02, Goff went 1.03, Lynch went 1.12,

Realistically with what I have heard about the QBs this year - I wouldn't be surprised if 2 or 3 of them went in the 1st.

I think there's at least 3 QBs in play as potential fantasy 1st rounders, but their ultimate ADP will be better determined post NFL draft. Fantasy team needs will play a role, too. In my only SF, a good majority of non-playoff team's are without a viable QB2, so I'm hoping they're forced into reaching and letting some of the other skill players slip to the late 1st

is that a single qb league? That seems really late for qbs in your 2017 draft

Nope it is a Superflex league.
As I sat there with my earliest pick being a 3rd rounder, I was getting squeamish watching them fall.

I expect probably most of the QB's that go in the 1st round to be 1st round rookie picks.
Obviously will depend on who declares and a bunch of other factors but there are a few QB's I think are probably going to be 1st round picks in the NFL and this year I am probably taking Rosen before I take a Chubb or James Washington
