Funky MFL playoff brackets?

Postby Hottoddies » Tue Dec 05, 2017 4:21 pm

I noticed something strange about the MFL seedings for the playoffs that I don't recall from years past. They have #3 in the same bracket as the #1 seed and the #4 & #5 with the #2 seed. Shouldn't the #3 seed be bracketed with #2 seed with the #1 seed playing the worst seed?

I actually noticed that too last night, but in my league we reseed each round so it's not an issue.

Yeah in my leagues it states the higher seed will player lower seed regardless of the bracket set up.

They are just acknowledging the inevitable luck factor of fantasy playoffs by putting the 6 seed with the top seed ahead of time. In turn, it keeps the future champ (6 again) at the top too.

I think they do this automatically in leagues with 3 divisions. The assumption is that the best non-division winner is likely to be better than the worst division winner, as far as I can tell.

I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

This is causing major problems in the league I commish. I went to manually seed the teams and it had it where the 1 seed faces the 3/6, the 2 seed the 4/5. I went back and looked at our previous seasons and it shows this is how it has been set in the past. This is very strange as I am 100% confident I would have caught this in years past and changed it. The weird thing is the 6 seed won the first round in our first two years, so I wonder if it is a bug that just shows the brackets like they are currently calibrated for. I submitted a support ticket to MFL to see if our league history was somehow changed to reflect their current, whack way of seeding playoffs. The crappy thing is I'm the 1 seed this year so I don't want to appear to be making a rule change to benefit me, but it's freakin common sense. The 3 seed is pissed as well. I'm at a loss at what to do.

This. I reseed as it states in the bylaws so setup flaw or funky MFL settings aren't an issue.

Yeah, I seem to remember MFL setup being pretty limited and simply always putting the #6 seed on the #1 seed side of the bracket. After that round, it's up to commish to manually reseed
