When i first joined my dynasty league 15 years ago i was good at evaluating current talent but knew nothing about college football and sucked at drafting. Now i watch highlight reels, analytics, ESPN, and all types of websites as soon as the real draft ends. I was just curious to hear other people story.

Every time someone posts a thread like this, i require myself to post the following story. Its part of my self imposed punishment, and a reminder to myself that i am a complete idiot.
The year: 2013. A young rookie WR makes a few splash plays in the final couple of regular season games. 6'4" 215 lbs. Fast as lightning. Could jump to the moon. Hands like vice grips. The kind of rookie WR that makes your pants fit just a little tighter.
When the regular season was over, all us non playoff teams had to clear their IR. The guy who owns this magical WR inexplicably drops him in favor of keeping 3 defenses, 2 kickers and Chris Ogbayana.
Im all like "Wait, what?". I would have easily given a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him in the following draft, but now it was too late. So i spend all spring and summer lusting over this surefire HOF WR. I mean seriously it was embarrassing.
One final factoid: All summer another owner tried to pry Jordan Reed away from me. I held firm and finally he sent me 1.09 for Reed. Kid...meet candy store.
Finally the 2014 draft arrives. Sammy Watkins falls to me at 1.03. On to 1.09. Its starts looking like one of Mike Evans or Jordan Matthews will drop to me at 1.09....but alas Evens goes 1.07 and Matthews 1.08. So im OTC at 1.09 and no one really is standing out to me. And that WR from last year is still out there.......surely i cant be the only one with their eye on this stud to be..... and so what the hell i'll just make sure i get him now. Get your guys, right?

I traded away the 3 firsts I had. 7, 8, and 12. Ended up with Martavis, Benjamin for the 7 and 8, and Hilton was me trading out the 1.12 and Demaryius. My targeted players were stacking RBs such as Kamara, Perine, and Hunt. It's not God awful, but it would have made my year with that kind of stable. Instead it was a few under performed WRs for the year lol

Matches: somehow OBJ fell to 2.02 and I snatched him up, but since I also grabbed Cooks, Robinson, Martavis, Richardson, and Landry in that draft, I wanted to get a veteran WR to help me that year. So I flipped OBJ for Torry Smith, who was all set to blossom as Kubiak's WR1 that year.
Beats: a year earlier, I sent freshly drafted LeVeon Bell, Lamar Miller, and a 2014 year 1st for dynasty 1.01 overall uber-stud Trent Richardson. The 2014 1st became Brandin Cooks.
So yeah, I don't trade players right after I draft them anymore.
