Fantasy football is a fickle mistress

I was looking at stats today and realized something that just made me scratch my head. I came into the season with a WR core of Julio Jones, TY Hilton, Stephon Diggs, Amari Cooper, Sammy Watkins, and Allen Robinson. And my highest scoring WR is ranked... 18th? Seriously? This is the biggest flop for a position group I’ve ever had happen to me.

Anyone else have something like this happen to them? Sometimes you just fold your hand and then get ready for next year.

one thing I hate is,you pick up a free agent and hes been puttting up mid double digit scoring for three weeks in a row,and the week you play him he puts up 2 or three!

For the Mastodons in signature through 10 weeks I am 7-3 but on the cusp of going 7-4 and if I don't get one more win I will miss the playoffs. I am number 1 in points by roughly 200 and am averaging 120 points per game while the league average is 91. My points against are 104. So basically when teams play me they play well beyond the league average. The last two weeks the team I am playing against will put up their biggest scores of the season. This week (if I don't hold on) I will have the 2nd highest score and lose. My opponent will put up close to 150 against me when his average, to this point, was 87. The week before my opponent put up 132 when his average is 97. Week 13, the game I will need to win if I lose this week, my opponent has put up an average of 81...who wants to bet he doubles it? So damn frustrating!

I cut my kicker to pick up a new one. My new Kicker was Jake Elliot who left with a concussion, the kicker I dropped was Lutz who put up 17. I would have won if I stuck with lutz now I’m 7-4 and have to win out to make playoffs even though I am second highest in points scored.

I'm on the other side of this wacky year. I was mid-rebuild in two of my leagues, and just so happened to have shares of Cook, Hunt, Wentz, Goff, Thompson, etc. Their breakouts have unexpectedly thrust my teams into playoff contention in leagues that I thought had pretty much no shot going into this year. I've had to change gears and make a couple contention-oriented moves a year ahead of schedule. You just never freaking know.

One of my leagues, I finished dead last a season ago and this year I'm currently 9-2, largely due to having drafted Fournette, Kamara, Watson, and Mixon.

In one of my leagues, I'm leading the league in scoring by 4 PPG but I'm 5-6 and all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

In another of my leagues I have the lowest scoring team in the league but I'm also 5-6 and am one game behind the second place team (everyone is 5-6/6-5 but a couple teams) and am on the rise with recent turns of events.

Sometimes there's just no accounting for what happens any given season.
