2018, a weak rookie class?

Postby BuckeyeNation » Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:54 pm

I'm curious to hear opinions on the upcoming 2018 rookie class. Admittedly I'm not the most knowledgeable or informed person when in comes to scouting college prospects, but I'm not totally deaf to the devy pulse either.

I bring this topic up because I've heard less about individual players of the incoming rookie class this year than I have during any other season that I've played dynasty. The pre-season narrative was that this would be a very strong QB class, though I believe the consensus has fallen drastically throughout the season. We all know that Saquon is believed to be the crown jewel of this class, but other than that I haven't heard many other names being portrayed in a positive light. I'm aware of some of the other players in this class, it just seems like there's little to no excitement about this class as a whole.

I haven't heard much buzz outside of Barkley either, so I'm curious to hear people's thoughts on this as well. I don't know how much credence to put into Matt Miller, but found this article to be somewhat of a potential warning sign maybe....

As someone who has a handful of 2018 1sts, I'm hoping there will be some gems that emerge to round out the tier after Barkley.

This draft class is going to be really deep at RB. Barkley, Chubb, Freeman, Guice, Love, not to mention 2-3 others who will come out of the woodwork at the combine. WR seems to be pretty lacking. QB is probably going to be pretty solid. People are down on QB’s now... they will all get overhyped during the draft process... and then 2-3 will become studs.

Not a bad draft class. I’d say deeper than 2017, but not as Star heavy.

Wr is lacking compared to past years with the top names being Calvin Ridley, Deon Cain, Courtland Sutton, Dante Pettis and James Washington.

Disagree that it is deeper than 2017.

Had just as many stud RB's@top of 2017(Kamara & Hunt were 5-6 RB's taken) Best TE draft ever probably. At least 5-6 that will be viable pass receiver options in fantasy. Jonnu, Shaheen,Kittle would be possibly #1 TE in 2018 draft and they were 5-8 this year. WR was weak in 2017 but still probably better than 2018 class. Davis & M.Williams would go ahead of anyone in next class. Not to say they will have better career than Sutton or Ridley ,etc... But far more polished than anyone in this class. Second tier I would consider a draw as Ross, Godwin,Golladay are equal to Kirk, Washington, Tate or whomever. I like Equanomius but will have to see @ the combine how impressive he looks since ND never throws the ball. Always someone sneaks up but like last year not a bunch of superstar can't miss types.

Supposedly it was going to be the year of the QB . Still could be a good one as far as depth in quality prospects but looking about the same amount of top end ones. Mahomes,Trubisky,Watson vs Lamar, Rosen, Darnold looks pretty even to me. Probably at next level 2018 is better. Kizer & Peterman probably aren't better than Allen, Rudolph or Falk but we're splitting hairs here as none are probably long term fantasy options.
