Anyone's guess at this point to be honest. Too far out to really provide valuable insight here. They used 3 draft picks this past draft on the position. I doubt they'll be able to justify using a high pick on the position next year. It theoretically could be J.Williams, A.Jones, D.Mays, or Ty Mongomery or any combination of the 4. What a mess.

He's the one I'd gamble on to be the lead back, they were feeding him the ball in his last game but unfortunately he got injured.

Has the look of a committee. But, there's still a lot of season left. If Jamaal Williams shows out, things get even messier.

It's impossible to tell. The coaches don't even know at this point. Williams will have some time to make his mark the next few weeks, but I don't think he has the pure running talent of Jones. My prediction is that if Jones improves his pass blocking, he'll be the lead back, but Ty and Williams will be able to siphon some carries. It's going to be an ongoing storyline during training camp next year.

It looks like a committee to me and I don't see Thompson ever drafting a rb high. He just doesn't value the position that highly. They have too many defensive issues as well, they'll go pass rush early. Whoever is healthy is going to get the majority of work and it seems like zero Packers are capable of being healthy. Think it'll be a mess for fantasy

Jones looked good for a couple of games, but not enough to establish himself as the lead back if Williams or Montgomery show out. If Williams is just meh and Montgomery continues to struggle to stay healthy (and there are no surprises from a guy like Mays), Jones will probably be considered the guy going into next season. I think the more likely scenario is that it starts as an RBBC next year.
I can't see GB investing in a RB, unless maybe Williams completely bombs and Montgomery proves to be CJ Prosise.

I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

If I own him, I'm hoping he could be or selling him like he will be. But if I'm buying him I'm not paying like he's gonna be.
And out of those options I'd most prefer to be the guy selling him like he will be.

Agree with the statements above that (1) GB won't draft another RB and (2) if Williams majorly botches this opportunity, Jones has a much higher likelihood of the lead role next year. But if Williams is just OK or better over the coming weeks, I think we have to expect some form of RBBC in '18.

Green Bay has, since 2014, been committed to not using a bellcow back. Lacy was a usage monster as a rookie in 2013, then got 15 carries a game in 2014 and downhill afterward as they mixed in more Starks (when healthy). Jones clearly looks like the better back and should be the lead back in GB next year, but to invest highly in him you'll need to be convinced that he'll be very efficient in his touches and/or be the goal line back.

I think I'd wait and see how Jamaal Williams does this week...?

I think he and Chris Carson are in the same boat...as an owner, you're hoping the good showings (that came by way of another's injury) is not slowed (by way of their own injury) during FA and the draft. As a potential buyer, you're probably hesitant to invest much more than a 2nd because of the aforementioned scenario.

Neither SEA nor GB seem designed for a true bellcow RB, so at best you're hoping for a mid-level RB2 out of either.

In regards to GB not being a bellcow back type of team; McCarthy has stated multiple times that he prefers having a 3 down back. He has backed that up before when he thinks he has found that previously with Ryan Grant, Lacy when he was good, and Ty when he was performing well. If one back can separate from the group next offseason, I would not be surprised at all to see the lions' share of the snaps go to a single RB.

Problem is, GB hasn't had the type of Rb that McCarthy was referring to. They didn't have it even when they were feeding Ty. He was just the best they had at the time. I'd be careful when listening to coach speak.

Far too reasonable of a suggestion.
