Is this tanking (Sorry for the exhaustive topic)

League has FAAB processing once per week. Team A is in the playoff mix and Team B is not. Team A was outbid on a D and K to replace his D/K on a bye this week. Team B offers his D/K to Team A for the D/K on byes and a late draft pick. If Team A accepts this trade, then Team B now has K/D on bye this week resulting in empty slots in his lineup. Team B doesn't care because he/she is looking to next year.

Is this tanking or smart?

Doesn't seem like tanking to me. It helps team A, team B gets a pick and better draft status and maybe they even keep the K and D to improve their team.

I notice when teams get hit hard with bye weeks every now and then people will start someone on bye just because its not worth dropping someone to pick up a fill in.

As long as they don't turn around and trade the DEF/K back to each other the week after.

You really should push for a 2nd waiver period though but no issues with the deal. Obviously tanking but doesn't sound like anything against the rules and smart way to ensure no fluke points.

So either way one team is not starting a K and D this week is what you're saying. You need to process waivers more than once a week I'd say then, or have an open free agency period after waivers and before the games kickoff. You should always be required to start a full and active lineup, that's like rule number 1. But it sounds like the way you guys are set up, in some cases teams can't start a full lineup even if they wanted to if they get outbid during waivers and fail to find a replacement on their one shot a week at it. Seems like a flaw.

in my leagues i make owners start a viable lineup. you can put in bums or whatever but they gotta be playing. if you dont have the ability to add players you need to make a trade, even if a meaningless one

Problem is other teams don't carry 2 D's or K's so there is no meaningless trade available. I think we just need to adjust our waiver process next season.

Typically rules against tanking don't apply to roster moves, only to the starting lineup. This is an extreme case but roster moves don't need to give you a better chance of winning now so long as they improve your team in the future. The exception is that you should intend to submit a full lineup, but in this case that might be impossible. They could theoretically trade another team for another K/D, so this is not automatically tanking.

Sounds like your waiver system is bad and this is the result

Are there any unowned D/Ks at all? If so, after waiver processes it should go to first come first serve pickup for times like this

Here's the best solution: don't use DST or kickers. So much volatility and you just end up streaming those positions anyway. None of my three leagues use them.
