Who are you buying low(ish) for final push?

Guys that come to my mind would be Fitzgerald, AD, Forte and Woodhead, anyone else?

Not sure about that Fitzgerald/Stanton connection.

Lynch might be a good RB2 that can be had for cheap. Raiders were supposedly limiting him earlier in the season... well, you're 4-5, no time to mess around. You already mentioned AP. Not sure I'd trust Forte or Woodhead, but if the price is right...
Jimmy Graham is about to turn 31. He could help in a down year for TEs.
Crabtree and DT are the only WRs over 30 I'd want on a playoff team. Jordy and Fitzgerald just don't have a QB to make them trustworthy.

I'll tell you something, Buffalo has a really nice offensive schedule end of season, I mean look at this pass defenses YTD ..

I mean look at this graph, it doesn't get any prettier for a passing offense, KC, NE x2, IND, MIA x2
Image

Everyone really should be using Sharp Football Stats when looking for buy lows ..

Image

DEN has the easiest, BUF, KC, CAR, PIT, NE, JAX, MIA .. hardest CLE, IND, ARI, SF (not only bad teams but going up a horrible schedule of good defenses)

His newest creation, trending viz .. takes ROS strength of schedule and compares it to last 4 games (can choose how many games to look at, say a new QB for 3 weeks, can scale it back to only look at 3 for example) ..

Image

New Viz can be found here: https://www.sharpfootballstats.com/tren ... -off-.html

So looking at that graph, two teams really stick out for explosive pass offense, DET, and JAX .. trending from a 13th rank to 2nd, and 19th to 5th .. might be some opportunity there also ..

Interesting graphs. I'm not sure how they go together though. The middle one says the Dolphins have one of the best remaining schedules but then the trends have them 13th, 32nd, 18th, and 20th in the four categories which does not seem very good.

I dont get buying low if you're trying to make a push. Wouldn't you want to buy someone that has been doing well all year? Sure, you may overpay, but if it's the piece you need to win, then it's worth it.

Passing success MIA so far this year is 25th but they are trending to go to 13th with their upcoming schedule,
Explosive Passing MIA is currently 28th, but are trending to go to 18th ..

It's where they currently are, to where they might go, you are looking for dramatic jumps, not that all of a sudden lead the League in the category ... to go from 25 to 13 and 28 to 18, are jumps in production.

Like with anything, this only shows the opportunity, you still have to evaluate why the Dolphins are currently 25th and 28th, (played very good pass defenses? Injuries? Performance?) As with any stats or numbers you still have to evaluate the context, but hopefully they point out places that you might not have looked before .. like before this I didn't consider anyone from BUF, JAX, DET .. but now if they are low hanging fruit in places I'll pick them up and/or trade for them cheap.

Looking at the graphs I posted ARI is facing one of the worst schedules of pass defenses and you have Stanton, not someone I would buy low on for the playoffs ..

Benjamin, Clay, M Lee, Tate, Marvin Jones .. would be interesting targets, I'd still look at their individual match-ups rest of season before going after guys..

This point of the season you have to be looking at Strength of Schedule, especially championship weekends, W14-W16

My thoughts exactly

However Olsen would probably be the best target for ‘buy low’

I think the point is that someone who is out of the playoffs wouldn't have any use for a player like Adrian Peterson if we assume he might not play next season, which makes them a great buy low candidate.
