Hey so I dug kinda deep and couldn't find a Curtis Samuel thread. He's been a trade target of mine since May after missing him in the rookie draft and I was just able to buy him a couple weeks ago. Now that KB is gone and he has a shot at being the #2 WR in this Panthers offense long term I figured he deserved his own thread for discussion.
Aside from debating whether or not selling KB was dumb, I have always been a fan of Samuel as a prospect so it's exciting that we may have a chance to see what the kid can do earlier than I expected.
Any other fans of Samuel out there? This is your safe space for chest bumping and high fiving

Re: Curtis Samuel is from Brooklyn New York City Where They Paint Murals of Biggie
I believe the KB trade gets Samuel on the field more, but I don't know that that necessarily means more points for him... he will become the Panthers deep threat, intended to open up the run game, and clear out the underneath routes that our bigger, slower receivers had to contend with when running Funchess and KB...
It'll obviously get him more involved in the offense, but don't bank on points just yet... If you can get him at a reasonable price, I'd go for it... But if someone is trying to gouge you because they think he's going to suddenly become a WR2, I'd pass...

Re: Curtis Samuel is from Brooklyn New York City Where They Paint Murals of Biggie
That all sounds reasonable. Have to remember he's just turned 21 in August which makes him one of the youngest players in this draft class. He also played a lot of RB in college and is still learning the nuances of playing the WR position so patience is key. On the flip side he's got game-breaking speed and I think can potentially be used as a bit of a chess-piece (read decoy) in the same way that the Chiefs use Tyreek both as a vertical field-stretcher and in motion on sweeps to keep the defense guessing. If the Panthers do actually start to target him deep, they've got a strong armed QB that we've seen have success making those throws to Ted Ginn in the past. The Panthers spent high draft capital on Samuel so as a dynasty owner it's good to see they seem committed to getting him on the field sooner rather than later.NanceUSMC wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2017 7:44 am I believe the KB trade gets Samuel on the field more, but I don't know that that necessarily means more points for him... he will become the Panthers deep threat, intended to open up the run game, and clear out the underneath routes that our bigger, slower receivers had to contend with when running Funchess and KB...

Likely a deep threat only as a decoy. Is Cam really going be tossing beautiful 30 yard bombs like Rodgers? The guy can barely hit west coast style plays (short and high %). Samuel will be on the field, still wont get any points, and if he does, he will be so wildly boom or bust it'll make Cooks look like captain consistency.

Yeah, Cam is pretty good at the deep ball. He has a rocket arm. It's the touch passes that he struggles with.NanceUSMC wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2017 8:26 amTed Ginn sure thought so =)nathanq42 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2017 8:19 am Likely a deep threat only as a decoy. Samuel is just a poor man's CMC
Re: Curtis Samuel is from Brooklyn New York City Where They Paint Murals of Biggie
As a KB and Olsen owner in multiple leagues, bless your soul for being excited about your guy, despite him having to rely on Cam to feed him consistently, ALL while having Mike Shula call plays.
Cam is officially broken, imo. While he'll still be ok on the intermediate-deep stuff, he's trash otherwise, and with CMC in the picture I just can't imagine Samuel being fantasy relevant. WR4 with a ceiling of WR3, maybe?

Shame he had the injury. Good chance he was going to be the best WR for the Panthers the rest of the year.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Looked like he was having a good game too vs. Miami...bummer.
