For those who are saying a 4th is so cheap, it's really not. Players in the NFL don't get traded much and when they do, it's usually for conditional 6th or 7th rounders

While I agree to an extent - let us not pretend that a 4th is exactly a heavily investment or vote of confidence in how bad they wanted him.
It is basically the same investment they made in Pumphrey.

Totally agree. I wasn't trying to make the case that the Eagles gave up a ton of capital, but rather that they paid the going rate for a player who's good not great (and isn't a QB, OT, or edge player)

Maybe he goes to the Eagles and is a member of a 3-headed RB committee. Totally possible, and it would suck.

Maybe, just maybe, he has a "Marshawn Lynch to Seattle" 2nd chapter to his career.

Ajayi is not a pedestrian talent. I feel pretty good about him holding or increasing his current value (assuming his current value is a late First) by the end of the year.

I think Benjamin is an average WR, but the writing seems to be on the wall with Ajayi:

-Degenerative knees
-Needs multiple rest days during the practice week for his knee at age 24.
-Hasn't been any good this season
-Receiving production didn't translate
-Locker room problem in Miami

Also:

Ajayi's three 200 yard games: 85 carries, 624 yards, 4 TD's, 7.3 YPC
All his other games since 2016: 313 carries, 1,113 yards, 2 TD's, 3.5 YPC

He may have some good games in a better Philadelphia offense, but this is the last window to sell for something significant while people thinking the Dolphins are idiots for selling low.

You make plenty of valid points...other than the knees and locker room issue, this sounds a lot like the arguments against Gurley last year at this time. I know its an unfair statement for me to make by comparing the two but this is a big reason its hard for to give up on him right now.

Also, I mostly just being a pain by making that Benji comment...I soured on him probably at this time last year as he always ended the season with overall WR2 numbers...but was impossible to start due to his peaks and valleys from week to week.

This could be true. Or it could be Miami/Gase wanted him gone so badly, they leak this to justify the release and deflect criticism.

Time will tell about his knees, but I think it’s a good short-term deal for Philly with the potential to be a great long-term deal.

Too bad they couldn’t land a better LT, though.
