Maxx Williams

Postby joeylitz » Tue Oct 17, 2017 7:34 pm

12 team league with 32 on each roster.
Is Maxx Williams still rosterable? I've been holding on to him for a couple of years waiting to see his "upside" finally materialize but he's always hurt. Is it time to cut him?

I just recently dropped him in the 2 leagues that I owned him. I have more promising young tightends now and I just don't have the patience for him. he is still sitting on the wire in those leagues.

I'm gonna hold him through the ROS, just in case he does something this year. He flashed a couple times his rookie year.

He came in to the league very young. No one is dropping Howard or engram, both of which are essentially the same age.

If you've soured on the talent, no reason to hold a prospect te, but not fair to write him off just yet imo.

Most TE take time. Tough to be patient at this time of the year. I'd recommend holding if you have the roster space. His time will come.

Patience with the TE position always has to be considered. However, when you can't stay on the field and aren't productive when you do play, that goes out the door.

I wouldn't cut him just yet, unless there are significantly better options on your waivers. However, I see a couple of players on your roster that I'd drop before him. I don't have high hopes left for him, but might as well continue stashing if you have the room.

That's a pretty deep bench league, but as always, the question is who would you be dropping him for?

Thanks everyone. I have no need to drop him but wanted to see what the community thought. I'll hold on to him a bit longer.

Is there anything to see here? He has been capitalizing on each and every target this season. His blocking has been good.

Do the injury concerns negate a potential flyer here?

I think he’s a worth a stab. He might be a guy who takes hold of a starting gig for his next team, if he’s can finally stay healthy. His rookie contract should be up after this year, I think? Obviously he wouldn’t get a ton in FA, and wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting role, but I could see him being a poor man’s Burton in the summer of 2019

He's caught every target, but every target has been low depth, and he couldn't get any RAC yardage.

Which highlights the primary issue with Maxx, other than his injuries: his play-speed is slow. He's averaging 7.8 ypr over his career. He seemed faster in college, but I guess it didn't translate.

From what I've seen as a fan who had high hopes, hes just not as fast at this level. Ravens took him pretty early for a TE, but hes never played that much due to anything and everything.

I dont see how you rely on him when...
1. The Ravens drafted 2 other TE this season, the first being Hurst in the 1st round, isn't even playing
2. They continue to trot Boyle out there who is below JAG status
3. The Ravens pass offense isn't reliable in itself and Joe spreads the ball around a lot between WR TE and RB
