Ryan Mathews - why is he still unsigned?

While the WR position has experienced a larger portion of the injuries this year, I am shocked that this guy doesn't have a job. Is he still nursing his neck injury?

Could be countless reasons. Maybe he's flat out of shape? It is indeed odd that he hasn't had a single tryout. Also Rashad Jennings.

Exactly - I haven't even heard buzz about workouts either. Even David Cobb landed a workout.

Some teams have shown interest but they are afraid to take the last step to the physical signing due to the risk of Mathews hurting himself while writing his name.

Only because he hit the back of his head on the underside of the desk while picking the pen up, both aggravating his neck and giving him a mild concussion. You would fumble the pen too.

DeAngelo Williams said he would play this year during the preseason, and his name hasn't come up either. Mathews hasn't shown a whole lot recently but he just turned 30 today so he can't be that bad, and DWill is older but was still in playing shape last year. The Adrian Peterson trade makes me think it's unlikely either of these guys are going to get any interest (unless maybe Le'Veon Bell goes down again) but I don't know why.

Neck injuries are scary. Teams don't want to take the risk and look bad......Mathews, Orr, Aaron Williams. If Peyton wasn't Peyton he would have been forced to retire.

He didn't get cleared for football activities until August and by that time must teams already had their RB corps situated. He's a good back but he's not dependable, his injury history was probably enough to scare most teams away.
