Flash in the pan definitely. He could have a little run when players are injured, but nothing worth investing in.

Benefit from the tight coverage on Adams and Nelson today, and Cobb being out. Doesn't look like anything interesting as a talent.

Next man up. Won't be valuable unless injuries to other GB WRs persist (says the Adams owner LOL). All joking aside, most competent WRs have value in the GB offense when called upon. Allison is no different. But nothing to see here.

When you put it as so binary, @thedudewhogetshigh, you'll get skewed answers. Even the biggest Allison supporters -- heck, Allison himself!! -- would have to pick "flash in the pan" as more likely than "future potential stud".

I think that you'll get a much more beneficial answer by asking a different question (e.g., What are Allison's prospects moving forward? or What is the likely range of outcomes for Allison moving forward?) rather than such an extreme binary one.

That being said, I choose neither of your options.

For me, I see Allison as fitting the emerging profile of the big slot receiver, ala Boldin and Fitzgerald (now, not early in his career). He has the size and strength to play wide and the ability to run those slot routes and make tough catches. I doubt that he ever becomes the next elite WR, but the #3 WR on Green Bay has proven to have real value. I see it as far better than a 50/50 chance that Allison is a top-3 WR in GB in 2018, and Cobb has been known to miss a few games every now and then (and Jordy could easily miss one or two), giving you possible spot-start production in 2017.

Considering that he's likely on waivers, he's a great cheap pickup. If/when he is a top-3 WR in 2017 due to an injury, then he has legitimate spot-start potential. He has enough upside for a fluky big-game performance even when all 3 WRs ahead of him are playing that he could be a desperation dart-throw start this year in any given week. And he has the realistic chance of being a top-3 WR in GB next year. Remember, GB kept him on the roster and made him a top-3 WR yesterday despite him having a suspension in week 1 and LOADS of WR talent in training camp. They like him, he has had some huge games, and Rodgers trusts him. Great WR 5/6, IMO. Great.

Rodgers can obviously make anyone look good/competent. Granted there were some difficult catches that he made yesterday, but I feel like this guy has already been owned and dropped by half of our league in the last year....

How likely is it that the Packers are going to be paying three receivers big money next year? Adams finishes his rookie contract this year and I expect either he'll leave for bigger money elsewhere or the team will take a hard look at Cobb's $12M cap number and the fact they have a guy in Allison who can play the position at a fraction of the price without substantial drop off in talent. Even if they keep all three (which isn't impossible as their management doesn't have much of a track record of taking on large sums of dead money), Jordy & Cobb's contracts run out after 2018.

See this is the exact information I'm looking for. That makes me think he's a good stash for next year. He's only 23 and he's 6'4

I liked Allison better when his name was Janis but then he had to go and be productive in a game...

He's 23
He's 6'3"
He's next man up in a pass first offense that starts Jordy and Cobb.

Worth a flier if you're rebuilding, but I wouldn't expect consistent production barring injury to the other GB WRs.

Precisely.

If you are expecting redraft or daily production (as the first half of this thread seems to read) then you're doing it wrong.
