The defense put up two touchdowns and a safety against Indy. The very first play, Hoyer threw a pick that gave the Rams the ball at the three, which Gurley punched in for a TD.Servo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 8:06 amI get it, no one has/will expect anything from INDY (until/if Luck returns) and the only reason SANFRAN is being talked about is b/c of Shannahan and how he coaches this year. But putting up 40 points on two NFL teams is pretty damn good, this SF victory for Goff is far more impressive considering LA's defense was pretty atrocious in the 3rd and 4th (save Aaron Donald/bad decision on the 2pt by Taylor).ericanadian wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 7:33 am Further, Goff has only played weak teams so far (they're 1-6 as a group with the loan win coming against the Rams). If you're going to chastise people for jumping to conclusions on one season, maybe your counter point shouldn't be a three game run against bad teams...
Yes, LA has a tough stretch coming up and we need to see Goff continue with solid consistency but you'd expect good/competent QBs to put up points/stats against bad teams and so far..........Goff has done that.

However, he has faced a couple of terrible teams so far. The defenses get cranked up for the next couple months. I think Dallas is supposed to have a decent defense. Then you have Seattle, Jax, Arizona, Houston, Minny, Arizona, Seattle, Tennessee, Eagles the rest of the season with a few easy matchups like the Saints sprinkled in. It's going to be tough sledding I think for Goff.

The Cowboys secondary is pretty shaky but the run defense should be good, 1st last season in yards per game allowed but they did get run over by the Broncos, so we'll see. I do think it will be Gurley's stiffest test so far, so I assume the Cowboys will give safety help to whoever covers Watkins, if he recovers from a potential concussion.

Re: Week 3 Discussion Thread
We can rehash the statistics to death. Some look good, more of them look bad, but the bad ones are mostly from 2016. For me, some of the important things to take into consideration are:
Goff is 22 years old (turns 23 next month).
He is learning his 2nd NFL offense.
Has 5 years of learning before he hits what is considered to be the "prime" productive years for an NFL QB.
His arm is considered good enough for NFL play.
His field vision and decision making ability are considered good enough for NFL play.
His new HC is unproven but looking very good.
Is Goff going to be great? I don't know. But his current trajectory is promising.

Cowboys defensive stats I feel are a bit skewed because of the way they control the ball on offense, teams seem to be in negative game script so don't even try to run ... However, I don't underestimate Rod Marinelli, but I think the DAL defense is not as good as their stats may indicate ..The Cowboys secondary is pretty shaky but the run defense should be good, 1st last season in yards per game allowed but they did get run over by the Broncos, so we'll see. Goff's upcoming schedule is brutal and we'll get to learn a lot about him this season .. I for one am pulling for him, but I am a bit hesitant to what I've seen so far when he's been under pressure. And that's all I have been hinting at ...

This, the cowboys defense is not good. I don't care what the stats said last year. They were barely on the field. Just look at the personnel, other than sean lee there is no one on that defense that is really intimidating at all. Both their pass rush and secondary are below average.Plank wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:14 pmCowboysfan33 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 8:32 am However, he has faced a couple of terrible teams so far. Yeah, they aren't great but at the end of the day, they were #1 against the run last season. No one that watches the Cowboys games and I literally have watched EVERY game for the last 20 years thinks that their defense is intimidating/great, whatever, but part of the equation of their defense, is ball control and building up a lead on the opposition. What makes you think that the Rams will slow the Cowboys offense down after giving up 39 points to a crappy 49ers team? My response to Dynasty Delorean that said he thought the Cowboys defense was suppose to be decent. I said the secondary is shaky, which it is but that this should be Gurleys toughest test and I believe that, we'll see.

Anyone happen to know which Lions WR Trufant will likely be covering?

Doesn't he play sides? Even if he is a shadow corner, the Lions don't have anyone scary enough to cause a DC to put a shadow on him. He'll play on both Jones and Golladay I'm sure

Re: Week 3 Discussion Thread
no, Trufant lines up 95% of his snaps on the left side (through 2 games) .. with like 3% moving inside to the slot ..
Marvin Jones so far has 58% of pre-snaps line-up on the right .. so, its Marvin Jones @ 58%, but DET moves their WRs around ..
through 2 games Trufant has not traveled .. There have been instances where he has traveled but extreme cases like OBJ, Mike Evans .. but its been pretty rare since 2013 ..
So far, ATL has only allowed one explosive play to WR (D Adams) for 33 yards .. Think the inside game is the answer for exploit .. Ebron, Tate..
However, Golladay on Alford is certainly a size mis-match ..

Not sure what that has to do with fantasy football, but I won't be watching ESPN anytime soon.
