Watson, What To Do? POLL

Postby Servo » Sat Sep 09, 2017 3:14 pm

2QB League, 4Pts TD

Drafted Watson with the 2.03, steal in some regard. His first preseason game was solid but the final two felt like major disappointments, compared to the other Top 3 QBs. Put that with low throw velocity and a mediocre Houston OL.

Watson is currently on my Taxi Squad, and someone else put a claim in...meaning I would get a 2018 1st if I let it go through.

The claiming team could go either direction, in my opinion, they are very young so I could see a scenario where they don't produce and his team crumbles or they could exceed expectations and make playoffs. Meaning I can't comfortably put a range on the pick I'd be receiving.

My QB situation is already dicey: Rivers, Goff/Mannion, Savage/Watson, Trubisky, Hundley.

Let Watson go for a 2018 1st and test my luck with these 2018 QBs (Jackson, Rosen, Allen, Darnold) or keep him unless he performs/better offer comes on the table?

Next year's QB class is going to be strong and I am not a believer in Watson. Flip Watson for a 2018 QB. Rivers, Goff, Savage will get you through 2017, Trubisky and Hundley are good future assets, get you a 2018 QB.

Watson hasn't sorted out his mechanics at all from what I could see. He's in a great situation, so he could pan out, but I would let him go and take the pick.

In a 12 team 2 QB league I would move him for the 1st. Fantasy wise I don't think he will ever be more than a middling option, think Cutler/Alex Smith territory. If this is a larger league (14-16) then you have to keep any QB with a pulse unless someone will blow you away.

I like the signal callers next year a lot better. Watson is a gamer for sure, but you could get a gamer in Mayfield next year, as like the 6th qb off the board.

You left out the most important piece of information, which is the size of your league. I'm going to assume it's not larger than 12 if Watson fell to 2.03. If it is larger that would affect my vote.

In a 10 man I would take the 2018 first. It's basically like trading the 2.03 for a 2018 first, which I think is good value for you.

Have until Monday night to decide, thankfully O'Brien put him in so I could get a glimpse.

So many throws were low/short of receivers. He showed some pretty great mobility back there but man, Houston could be a trainwreck unless Dwayne Brown can help on the Blindside

for a first I let him go in a blink , bill obrien is qb death and will ruin the kid if given half a chance . I would much rather roll with the 18 qbs or have the extra 1st for ammo to get a better player for the stretch run when a team falls out of contention.

It's a good point, O'Brien worked with Brady in New England but who has he been a "QB Guru" for ever since?

McGloin at PSU
Hackenberg at PSU
Fitzmagic, Hoyer, Mallett, Ozstriker, Yates, Weeden, Savage, Keenum with Houston

And no one has stuck.

In a 2QB league, Im keeping him over a random 1st. His value will only go up and you'll always be able to trade him to someone for a 1st during the season anyway...at least you'll have a better idea of where that first will be. I like the QBs coming out next year as much as anyone, but unless you have a top 3 pick, you're not getting any of the top QBs.

Would it move the needle if I told you that the team making the claim COULD very well be a top 4 pick or he could make the playoffs if his young players step up:

Non-PPR
Brees, Bortles, Glennon, Tyrod, Kizer
Abdullah, Gillislee, Henry, Hill, Ingram, McCaffrey, Jacquizz
DT, Hopkins, Sanders, Corey Davis, Anderson, Hurns, Marvin, Zay Jones, Treadwell
Graham, McDonald, Shaheen

And how about now, is Watson currently worth more than a Top 4 pick in a 2QB?

Or hell, multiple 1sts for that matter.

Watson could be worth multiple early picks by the end of the year. He will have his duds, but do you see the dudes playoff schedule? Weeks 14-17 are basically Gimmes. I'd protect him if that's a possibility cause in a trade to a contending team you're going to get more than one 1st
