I can't say what the 'norm' is, but our league has no offseason waiver wire priority, and no waiting time... Free Agents are NOT drafted in the rookie draft, and owners are free to add/drop at will after our super bowl...

I don't particularly think it's the RIGHT way to do it, but it's our way... for someone like me who eats and breathes this stuff year round (and works with 24/7 computer/internet access), I have a distinct advantage over other owners who may hear (for example) that Lynch is returning, but they can't get to a PC fast enough to snatch him up... I'm not breaking any of our rules, but it's definitely something that skews the playing field a bit in my favor (I did get Lynch for nothing more than the cost of an add/drop in my league)... But even thought it works out well for me, I don't believe it's the fair way of doing it... I suspect after me getting Lynch this offseason, we will see it brought up at our owners meeting after the season...

I like it that way! The guys who make it a priority should be rewarded! I know it's definitely not a popular take though. Ha. There are a shrinking set of advantages in this game with tweets and instant news and updates... There should be some kind of advantage for those who live and breathe it, just like anything in life.

Have a league that first 2 rounds are rookie only then next 3 rounds are anybody available. Sort of gives the 1.01 owner a double kicker, assuming there are any decent FAs still out there.

As a purist, I vote Rookies only in Rookie draft (duh)

In my leagues, we either have a rookie draft followed by a FA/rookie draft,
or a rookie only draft, then a waiver period the week before the season starts.

Lynch has been going top 10/12 in most drafts. Things like that make it way more interesting.

In my league we include free agents in the draft pool. However, once the draft is over, there is no more add/dropping players until after week 1 games are finished when the blind bidding begins. I'm a fan of this as it makes that first week of free agent bidding extremely exciting, with lots of juicy targets.
