Fantrax - What's your experience?

Postby Cult of Dionysus » Sat Aug 12, 2017 9:11 am

Just trying Fantrax out for the first time. It's got a pretty good setup UI, somewhere between MFL and ESPN in user-friendliness and complexity. Seems also possible to have slow drafts and slow auctions via this platform. Lot of scoring and roster flexibility, too.

Why is this not more popular?

"somewhere between MFL and ESPN in user-friendliness" is the entire spectrum of user-friendliness

Dunno why it's not more popular. I've been playing in several Fantrax leagues over the past 6 years and like it better than MFL (the only other platform I tried so far). It's easy to navigate, modify your roster, and keep track of player news. One drawback is that some features (like trading of future draft picks or setting up large leagues with 24+ teams) are "premium" features, so if you use them for your league, it will no longer be free to play, but Fantrax will charge an annual fee.

It doesn't matter what we want. Once we get it, we want something else.

I play my college leagues on Fantrax, mostly because there aren't too many hosts that do college anymore. I'm rather indifferent in it personally, don't love it, don't hate it. The functionality seems decent with it, it's just not the host site that I'd choose if given an option. It's much better than FleaFlicker IMO (at least what FleaFlicker was in '14-'15). That site is the nut-low .

Did not actually see this when I set up my test league. But upon a 2nd look, you are right. Future draft pick trading is one of the very few features that require their Premium Subscription. However, I don't think automating that function warrants spending $75 on MFL or Fantrax. It's pretty easy to track manually.
