I am a Duke owner and hoping he delivers this season. The problem is not Duke, it's the Browns. Complete mismanagement of players over the years have scuttled some decent talent.

I love the fact they are lining Duke up at WR it reminds me of the Eric Metcalf experiment by the Falcons back in the late 90's.

Duke Johnson value

Postby darkadun » Wed Oct 11, 2017 10:23 pm

What's everyone's thoughts on Dukes value? He's currently the 13th RB in my league and arguably a WR you can start at RB. He's been pretty consistent too despite the mess the Browns are.

So, Is he a hold or sell high? Im currently 1-4 despite having some really good players so part of me wants to flip him to a contender and see what I can get. Perhaps a Kamara or similar type player that could help me next year.

Thoughts on his value?

WR: DeAndre Hopkins, Michael Thomas, Adam Thielen, Will Fuller, Darius Slayton, Brandon Aiyuk, Keelan Cole,

I'm not a believer. Anyone with James white as best case scenario doesn't excite me. I would still only sell for a 2nd from a terrible team tho. He does have some value as a depth piece.

Can't imagine someone giving you Kamara in return as they are pretty much the same player. I think Duke is a very fine RB2-3 in PPR scoring so I would trade if you can get something better than that in return from an owner who's interested.

From what I've seen this year, he is doing everything McCaffery is doing .. so keep that in mind, to date he even has a little better production than CMC

I'd keep him for awhile, I think the opinion on him is too low to flip anywhere near his worth, this is of course if don't have any Brown fan owners .. Duke really has been the one bright spot on CLE through 5 games ..

I like Duke but don't think this is what he really is. If you are selling him, by all means get as much as you can from a team chasing points...but I sold him for Jordan Matthews last week on my rebuilding team. Felt like a reasonable convergence of JMatt's diminished stock vs Duke actually doing things on the field. I'll take JMatt long term.

Browns have two 1st rounders and three 2nd rounders in 2018. Pretty easy to imagine Duke in a marginalized role again if they draft an RB and Corey Coleman gets healthy...all without mentioning Njoku looks like he might deserve a bigger role.

Duke has always been a good receiving back and that's not going to change. 50+ receptions in each of the last two seasons. He's on pace for 99 targets this season, some of which is influenced by negative game script. The big thing is that he's actually had a few big plays this season and has more TD's this year than he did in his first two seasons.

I don't think you'll get much for Johnson. Many feel these 3rd down/COP backs like him, Riddick, White, etc are a dime-a-dozen and they're right to a degree. They don't get many carries, no red zone carries and are reliant on big volume for receiving production.

and hardly anyone is watching CLE games to see what he is actually doing, but its good things, when CLE goes pass heavy and down in games, he's been all over the place ..

I'm actually high on Duke and am holding. I could see him taking over the feature role next year from Crowell who I've never been impressed with

Yeah, he looks surprisingly good. I expected low end flex points, so he's exceeded expectations. Probably holding.

Kind of curious if he ends up on a non-dumpster fire team in the near future. Browns are turning it around, sure, but good offense is still years away.

I think this is the wrong way to think about it, its Duke's role will get bigger, not really taking over the 2 down back role, he's not big enough for that or injury resilient enough, he's not a 3 down back but a complimentary back ..but can be a very good one, snatching up tons of PPR points catching all kind of things underneath zone coverage schemes occasionally breaking a few tackles and scoring ..

When Duke gets even an inch of space he can make defenders miss and finds a way to the endzone. The guy is fun to watch and the only excitement on the browns. He is worth a first to me or even more, I am a believer.
