Everrett or Engram
Everrett or Engram
Im in a 16 team Dynasty IDP league and just traded C.Kaep for Evan Engram, and I acquired Gerald Everett in the 2nd rd of my Free Agent draft. As soon as I drafted Everett some one asked me if I would trade for his pick that is coming up and another player to be determined. He doesnt have a very solid roster so not much to pick from except Def players. Would it be dumb to acquire 2 players for 1 TE. Here is what is available in FA pool.

Re: Everrett or Engram
I guess it depends who you get as the 2nd player, but I like Shaheen and Jonnu. Not as much as Everett, but the other player should probably bridge the gap, unless he is worthless. And why would you trade for somebody who is not worth anything in the first place? Side note, you traded Kaepernick for Engram? Nice

Re: Everrett or Engram
i like shaheen aswell and since im getting engram it makes me feel more comfortable about trading Everett but fear I may regret it. Problem with Engram is he has alot of comp between Marshall, OBJ, Shepard so Im not sure how often will be used. Everett on the other hand has a bunch of unproven guys and i see alot of dumps from Goff coming his way. Who will have more of a fantasy impact Engram or Everett?

Why would anyone trade you engram for Kaep? How is Shaheen on waivers in a 16 team league?

Re: Everrett or Engram
I just cannot bring myself to believe in a tight-end with 8.5 inch hands. It's just... wrong.
Anyway, as implied, Engram > Everett. Don't forget Everett is gonna be just one part of a TE tandem with Higbee, apparently. Assuming Higbee stays out of jail. Meanwhile the Giants spent a 1st on Engram to be their new Jeremy Shockey. Engram probably won't light the fantasy world on fire, but he's the much safer bet to be a mid-range TE1 by '18 or '19.

Re: Everrett or Engram
Yeah I like Engram better. Which is why I traded for him even after I drafted Everett. Was supposed to trade Everett for pick and TBD player but now the guy wants to give me his weakest player and has already drafted JJ Wilcox. Looks like I may be stuck with 2 Rookie TE but I guess that's not a bad thing.

Re: Everrett or Engram
Man, if he is a new owner that inherited a bad team, and is pulling moves like sending Engram for Kap...well just be ready to find a new owner again next offseason. I guess I'm higher on him than most, but I like Everett as much or more as anyone on that list, except for McGuire. Fair warning he's my boy, but I would prioritize grabbing him, he's a sneaky good mix of opportunity and talent.
Re: Everrett or Engram
It seems like every year the fantasy world gets infatuated with new candidates to be a 'Jordan Reed' TE. The reality is having 'Jordan Reed' is as much about coaching and scheme as it is the player. If it was as simple as putting a large WR type player into the TE position, the league would be full of 'Jordan Reeds'. I take Everett because he was hand picked by the coach who was with Jordan Reed from the moment he entered the league. McVay could not be more enthsiastic about what Everett has done both in OTAs as well as training camp and most importantly knows exactly what it takes to make the hybrid WR/TE role a success.

Re: Everrett or Engram
I would take Engram. He has huge mismatch potential at the position.
But don't discredit Everett because of hand size. He was as productive as any TE in the country last season. He's not lacking for talent either and landed in a system that's very good at utilizing the TE. That scheme helped turn Jordan Reed into a star and made Vernon Davis useful again. Everett was one of the best TE's in the nation in terms of breaking tackles and YAC last season. That doesn't mean he's Jordan Reed, but those two categories are huge parts of why Reed is so good.

Re: Everrett or Engram
I was half tongue-in-cheek with that. It is pretty damn weird for a 6'3" man to have hands that small, though.
The primary issue with Everett is that the Rams quite like Higbee as a receiver too, and two TEs splitting the TE targets doesn't seem to ever pay reliable fantasy TE1 dividends with any NFL team not named the Patriots.
You know, Reed is a bit overrated, and as such so is McVay in the context of 'he makes move-TEs good' for coaching/producing him. Of course Reed's injury problems have been a factor, but technically Reed has only had one truly great fantasy season so far, and it wasn't even '16. This notion gaining traction lately that McVay is a move-TE whisperer seems premature to me.Reed is so good
